Not sure why I'm showing you this, you won't even know what you're looking at.... (hint, compare them to the pics on the Cree website)

Wanna buy a toaster oven? Just $0.0275 cents a watt.

And please, do not buy an SGS, I'd rather not make that sale.

HM i have decided that if i wanna build myself a LED panel i will use the following items.

5pcs neutral white - http://www.ebay.com/itm/10pcs-3W-High-Power-SMD-LED-240LM-20mm-PCB-base-Neutral-White-3-0-3-6V-700mA-/230944731072?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item35c560efc0

5pcs cool white - http://www.ebay.com/itm/10pcs-50pcs-1W-3W-High-Power-White-Warm-White-LED-Beads-Lamp-80-220LM-wholesale-/140969834742?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&var=440120393416&hash=item20d274f8f6

5pcs blue 440nm - http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-10Pcs-3w-Power-LED-Beads-440nm-Violet-for-LED-plant-grow-light-lamp-/261205072231?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3cd1091967

5pcs blue 470nm - http://www.ebay.com/itm/10-PCS-3W-Blue-High-Power-LED-Light-Emitter-460-470NM-with-20mm-Star-Base-/221206117837?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3380e97dcd

17pcs red 630nm - http://www.ebay.com/itm/10-pcs-3W-Red-High-Power-620-630nm-LED-Emitter-Light-with-20mm-Star-Base-/221207663215?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item338101126f

14pcs red 660nm - http://www.ebay.com/itm/10-pcs-3W-for-Plant-Grow-Light-Lamp-660nm-60LM-70LM-High-Power-Red-LED-/121111700386?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_2&hash=item1c32d1e3a2

4pcs IR LED - http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-PCS-3W-High-Power-IR-Infrared-LED-Tri-Chips-940nm-with-star-board-/221205956213?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3380e70675

The power driver for the LED's will be this here - http://www.ebay.com/itm/12V-20A-240W-DC-Switch-Power-Supply-Driver-For-LED-Strip-Light-Display-10-/261024292592?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3cc6429ef0

And i will solder the LED's on those PCB's - http://www.ebay.com/itm/2x-HeatSink-Aluminum-Base-plate-for-30pcs-HP-leds-in-series-182-142mm-/190803897178?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2c6ccc6b5a

After everything is done, I will stick the PCB's to an aluminium heatsink with some fans. In total i will have 60 x 3W LEDS for a total power of 180W. So what do you guys think? Will this do the job for my micro pc grow box :) ? Please leave a comment if this is a fine build. Thank you again.

Well I gotta say that I was supposed to get a free A51 SGS when working with Brent from FERO on different projects but the 2 companies have stopped working together and I never got my light...

Too bad because I was so looking forward to it. I gotta say that my A51s 600watters are really getting the job done ... and I dont ever use them at full power anymore.

As far as watt goes, of course a watt is a watt but as technology becomes more and more efficient, less wattage is going to be needed per sq.ft. and I am very curious to see what those little SGS can do.

A friend of mine owns a fleet of CNC mills and makes these Heatsinks. I've prob done a dozen builds with these sinks for growing as well as my other passion, aquariums.Have run them mainly as supplemental in my Flower room over the years and have yet to find a more sleek looking fixture even from the commercial end.
DIY is the way to go, period. You can cherry pick all the components and cram more wattage into a smaller package than the cookie cutter fixtures from Alibaba. This last one I built has roughly 60+ 3 W CREEs and Osrams, and runs cool to the touch courtesy of the flush-profile fan that sits in the Heatsink.

EH, if you and I are both 'tards at least I feel in good company. I really hope you don't sell to him as some customers are definitely not worth the problems.

Apparently you forgot to read the next sentence.. You go ahead and grow with you $600 light from Area 51 and get 130w of actual power and get your 3-6 oz, ill spend 600 bucks on a 420w CREE ufo from BSLED and get my 12+ oz... And im the idiot who says a watt is a watt WHEN I COMES TO FINAL WEIGHT YES IT MATTERS
I don't even know where to start with you. You have a lot of learning to do man.
First off, what does you LED grow look like??? Lets see how good your cheap "BSLED" lights are?
Lights like Apache and area51 can't be found over seas actually made by some cheap Chinese company then resold in the US for huge mark ups by anyone with an alibaba account. They are american made, deigned and assembled. With cree or even better chips(apache). They won't have some untrustworthy factory produce their products because they will steal and copy it all...remember hydrogrow? Anyways, you can keep thinking that the good american companies actually steal from the Chinese.
Watts are not all created equal. You need to learn about what light is and how it drives photsyntisis. You only know about power consumption. Well guess what...output of photons is the actual goal of giving light plant. And 1w from diode "x" doesn't have the same output of light as 1w from diode "y". The best way to look at how much light is actually being emitted is using PAR reading because they are the most accurate and unbiased measurements for light. Watts are just an expression of how efficently the output is being achieved. So I could careless what units or chips you think are good as long as they perform in the end. And performance is a reflection of output(umol)...not input/draw(watts).

I feel like I type the same things to every person that acts like this guy. They all think they have some secret that no one knows or something but all of those roads have already been ventured down before and aren't the dominated theory/lights for a reason. Guys and companies like this eventually put up or shut up. They will talk shit for a while then go back to the hole they crawled out....so what's you'r plan RB1956? I don't mean to be rude like this but you are very hostile in the way you act/speak, specially for someone whole thinks they are apart of this forums community(I've never/don't seen you). I'm not saying that BSLED is total BS, and I am open to all companies that perform...but I would like to see how you have been doing with them and see some proof of why you are so anti everything...you must have a awesome garden with those BS lights.

I repost his about every other day it seems but explains how I think and think others should look at any light(LED, HPS, florescence).
Here is how I look at LED's in order of importance.
1) What is the par output in umol's (most companies don't give one on their website and that just pisses me off)...minimum 700umols@12" is the lowest end of my attention radar. 1000hps's puts out 1800umol@24" so that is my real goal. Yellow(lumens) light that is not all absorbed(wasted) is still in the par spectum, so 1800umols LED PAR(wavelength specific) output would be more to the plants than 1800umols PAR(the whole mess) from hps.
2) Wattage to achieve output. (first total unit draw, then diode wattage and brand)
3) Coverage size and umol dispersion over the area (only strong in center or is it spread out)
4) Spectrum/wavelengths
5) Price
6) BS advertising/company image/knock offs on the market. (maybe they are the knock offs?)

Just the ways I personally judge all of them.

I used a 400 watt Solarstorm from CLW and it worked wonders.

A WATT IS A WATT, Apparently u have a lot to learn.. I have a attitude because people like you think you know all.. I know I don't but I do know a watt is a watt don't care what you say.. Yeah about apache tech they don't build and get everything from the USA.. They may have a different design or something but 99% of the parts if not 100% still come from CHINA.. But 1099 for 156w are you completely stupid?? Hows that not a 3-4x markup.. LMAO.. And for the dude with the board you showed, STILL DOESNT SAY CREE DOES IT!!!!!!!! NUFF SAID.. So ya ill buy from Bsled or cidly or whoever and get 3-4x as much light as you and 3-4x the medicine.. But im the dumb 1 nah I think that's the peeps who actually spend that amount of money just plain crazy but some people have money to burn I guess because that's what your doing..

I didn't spend $600, and I'd be perfectly happy with 3z's

You're the one who came in here with the wrong attitude, please don't hate us for trying to give you sound advice.
