Ideal pot size

Hey guys its me slr32 =)

Ok so I am use to using 5 gallon buckets to grow pot in and from my experience they seem to require alot of soil that is perhaps not needed... I found these pots that are close to 2 feet tall and start out 8" then taper down to even smaller. They would be perfect for my setup but I want to know if anyone has ever tried tall and skinny pots or done a pot comparison. I feel tall and skinny would support the ideal root growth better than not as tall and fatter.

Any advice is loved...Thank you

how big is your grow space? i'm using 12" diameter pots that are about 8" off the ground and work fine for my 2.5x3.5x6 space, i can flower 4-6 plants and get great canopy up to 4 feet

In my flower room I use 600 hps or 400 mhs vertically hanging with 6 plants 1-4 weeks flowering in smaller pots pots 6" under the bulb with 6 plants 4 weeks older in taller pots surrounding the bulb with an omega garden type of effect.

So its ideal to have a 1' difference in pot size between my younger flowering and my 4 weeks older ones.

Sorry I am really high lol

Let me lay out my plan:
Rockwool 1 inch from cut -3 weeks
2/3weeks -6 weeks 16 ounce cups
6+ 1-2 gallon shorter pots
12 weeks (4 weeks flower) into taller 3-5+ gallon pots to finish out life

Now my main question is would using a 2-3 gallon pot that is 2 feet tall and 8" wide at the top tapered to 6" wide at the bottom be worse than using 5 gallon buckets and has anybody experimented with these or do I have to be the first?

My second question which should actually be my first question is about my repotting schedule... If I repot 4 weeks into flower will this not be enough time for the extra pot to be of any benefit?

If so when is the ideal time to repot?

My repotting schedule above is more based on having a pot 1" taller to maximize the effiency of my vertically hanging bulbs.

Sorry if this didnt make any sense, as I said before I am really stoned...
