Ideal Pot Size - Auto Flowering Plant (Lowryder 2)

Hi,
As the tread title suggests, I am looking suggesting regarding an ideal pot size for an auto flowering plant. Space issue is not a concern. I’m looking to maximise the plants short life potential and root expansion.
Joint Doctor recommends a 5 litre pot however past grower results have been impressive when utilising 11 litre pots.
Should I opt for a 11+ litre pot given that growing conditions will be optimal: 600 watt hps system, cool tube, environment factors are precise (fresh air in/out) etc.
Thanks in advance for any feedback.
Happy growing :bigjoint:

For the most part, the bigger the pot, the bigger the roots, the bigger the plant, the bigger the yield, so always go big or go home!

It sounds like you have a pretty large set up for autoflowers. I don't think that you can go wrong with the larger pots, I would use the one gallon because size and cost are an issue for me. If you try both pot sizes, please post your results, I would like to see how they work out for you.

Thanks for the advice and curiosity fellow growers. I plan to conduct an interesting experiment with Lowryder 2 yield vs pot size, ranging between 3.5, 2 and the recommended (by Joint Doctor) 1.4 gallons.

I will send a link to all three of you regarding the grow journal. The seeds are currently in the process of germinating.

Thanks again and wish me luck!

I used 1.5 gal pots for my first LR2 grow and they did pretty fair ...... I used floros for 30 days before switching to a 400w hps. LR2 is a sturdy, hardy plant and easy to grow with very little care. Let'em dry out a little between waterings....they actually flourish ......good luck....I've just germed 7 new lr2 .....they are great!

I have been growing lowryders about a year and a half now. I've had 4 crops under my belt. First of all how many are you planning to grow under that 600w? If its under ten plants use the 3-4 gallon pots. You'll get better yields with bigger pots. I use 2 gallon pots cause I have about 30 plants per 1000w. Check out my Auto BB Grow and my Lowryder 2 journal.

Thanks for the advice and journal grow link Guitarjon. It was very much appreciated!

I plan to grow 8 lowryder #2 plants under my 600 hps system using 4 gallon pots.

I will also be testing how lowryder reacts in a 12.5 gallon pot, which will be located in an independent tent, using a 250 hps system. The pot size may be a little extreme but at least I will have fun finding out :bigjoint:

Peace out and happy growing
