hey canndo.. i usually agree with most of what you say, but why do you think requiring id to vote is a bad idea?? just wanted to get your thoughts on it is all..
and you have said how can voter id stop voter fraud, imo, as of right now, i can walk into my election center and tell them i'm joe blow from w. main street in my town and they simply look my name up in the big list of names of registered voters from my town.. what if i were an illegal alien and am not able to vote in elections in this country? wouldn't requiring id stop my from being able to vote under my neighbors name, like i can now?
i've often thought of how simple it would be to walk out of the one room my area is held in and walking into another room and give them a person i know's name and voting for a second time, or possible even a third anf fourth time if i felt like it.. imo, requiring id would stop things like that, no?

btw, i'm still on the fence about how i feel about the id laws..
When the GOP rises again they will know who voted against them purge the nation of liberals and progressives, those "liberal activist judges" that Beennowhere is so afraid of will be tried for treason. All thanks to voter ID laws.

Then post one. I didn't know we were here exclusively to amuse you.
I have never once come to this forum for anything but amusment.

If there was a be serious and contribute sign at the door, I'm sorry I missed it. Must of been blocked by the Bob Marley poster. Damn, and to think we could of changed the world from here.

i reluctantly support voter ID laws.

the idea seems a little too big brother for me, but as long as it is implemented correctly and fairly, it can eliminate some small percentage of negligible fraud.

the PA law was too transparent of a suppression scheme to pass my muster on this issue. give them until 2014 to improve this law and implement it.

Think they have a handwriting analyst check each and every signature against some other signed paper to verify its veracity? Do you think that is what happens? Do you?
Every vote is suspected of voter fraud? Did every ballot across the nation get hand counted and checked for dangling chads? What about electronic voting stations? If they can have electronic voting, why is electronic signature so hard? If your state requires a means of certification, why not require electronic signatures? Are you having an off day? I thought you were a Libertarian? Isn't requiring voter ID a denial of liberty? ID should only be required if you are involved in a crime, what crime is voting, besides being a waste of time?

Ok, so I really want to commit in person voter fraud in a state like mine where one has only to find one's name on a roster of registered voters.

How do I do it? Think about it.

So you think that you will have both the

-time

To forge a signature that is in front of you with people watching?
maybe instead of growing dope you should counterfeit money. Since you are so talented

Commit voter registration fraud prior!
The only way to accomplish that in your world is to get fake ID. Which would hardly make voter ID a reasonable safeguard. Sorry, but voter ID has but one purpose - to disenfranchize voters - something you seem to support.
