I really need help!

Guys please help, I was kickin it with my babies this AM and I decided to check out the root growth. I have been battling the pH for a couple days. I noticed that there was this brown slime in clumps on the roots. I am hoping that this is my nutes just clumped up. I pulled it off of the roots and it smelled algaeish, like a pond basically. I need to know if anyone has seen this before or if it may be just nutes building up ( I doubt that ). I pulled what i could off of all the plants but i didn't wanna hurt em too much. Up until now they have been looking great I dunno what happened. I introduced some hydrogen peroxide yesterday.....underneath the brown globs the roots ARE white and the seem healthy. The root system is far too large for me to clean on my own. So what do you guys think Physan 20? PLEASE HELP ASAP.

So.. Update, I made a solution of HP n water and sprayed the roots clean as best as I could.....I really hope I haven't hurt them. After I washed them the roots seem nice and white they just have these gobs of slime. Of course the biggest one has it the worst. the roots are far too c big to clean entirely...I added some hydrogen peroxide to the tank again as well. I was wondering if there are any ways of DIY Res cooling, like can you just add some ice??? Probably a bad idea. Anyway, I will be heading to the hydro store in a bit to try and get some ZONE or Physan 20. Can anyone recommend one or the other? Man I really don't want to loose my crop to this...If you can't tell I am freaking out a bit.

+rep for help

try flushing?

maybe put in some fresh water and fresh nutes?

I dunno anything about DWC setups.. or hydroponic setups... but common sense would tell me to put in some fresh water/nutes.

good luck...

peace.

I really think this is due to res temp. I think I am going to scoop up some sensidyne. Does anyone know of a DIY Res cooling method? If i cool the entire cabinet it should all come down right? I feel like the water is just too well insulated to be cooled from the outside.

float a plastic container with ice inside it.

Update with pics-

As you can see the plants still seem plenty healthy, but you can see the brown clumps on the roots. The biggest plant is only about 30 days old if that.

Like stated before make sure you are not getting light into your rez. You want your temps to be 68deg or below. I was using half pint mason jars filled with water and frozen but now I use 16 oz. water bottles frozen to cool my rez. I use 5 gal buckets and throw a new bottle in each rez at the start of my light cycle. With my DWC I top off with ph'd water for a week and re supply my rez's every 2 weeks with new water and nutes. At 30 days your girls should be much larger than that. I was running ww and ssh and at 30 days I was ready for flower. They were well over 2ft tall. But with my inexperience I waited till they were almost three ft tall and well....They got much bigger fast!!! A few things I learned along the way is to get some flora kleen if you havnt, salts build up quick it was hard for me to diagnose and they are a bitch and can cause havoc for you. And get some hygrozyme. Peroxide is a quick solution if you have algae but it breaks down very fast. Maybe it would be wise to just let your girls bask in plain old ph'd water for a day or 2 so they can start fresh when you add new nutes. When I would "wash" my root mass I would just stick it in ph'd water and shake it around. The roots are pretty resilient. I dont think you need to worry about buying a bunch more things. Just get em clean and get your rez temps under control and the rest will fall into place. Just a thought..Good luck man

Thank fourrings, I drained as much water as I could cyphen out I have a raft system which kinda sucks now.....I added new water that was pH'd and added some peroxide. I am going to the hydro store tomorrow. You think they will be ok? Oh, and only one of them is 30 days old and they have been in the system for even less. the second largest is around 20 and the other 2 are around 15. The far left plant is definitely small I admit. Thanks again for your help I will keep you updated.

Maybe make a pvc rack that fits inside your tank/rez so when you drain off your water your raft will stay suspended and not squish your roots.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm indeed......:)

Does anybody think that this operation is beyond repair or not worth the fix....am I too far behind for a decent yield?

Alright so I did the unthinkable....I took the raft out roots hangin and washed em'. I also emptied my reservoir and washed it. My bubble stone and bubble wall were covered with brown slime. I washed everything and put it all back in, in short and tommorow as I said I am getting something to clean it up for good.

Got some hydrozyme today, will post some more pics later on for an updated look. The guy at the Hydro store thought maybe my nutes caused the problem. He seemed to think that Organic nutes didn't work with all DWC's. I am using Buddha grow but i am going to switch to Pure Blend Pro I think. Does anyone have any idea or has heard of this?
