I don't want to start an LED vs HID argument but if you only have a budget of $300 and you're going to be growing 6 plants then HID is probably your best option. For $300 you can get a complete 1000 watt setup.

But if you are set on LED's then I'm sure others will provide you with those options.

Good luck

I tend to agree with this. How large of a space will you be growing those six plants in @RookieGrow3r420 ?

Well i dont have much knowledge on growing to argue im still learning i just dont have $2,000 laying around for a perfect light set up lmao. So between hid and led whats the difference like will i harvest more or less weed with one or the other?

With the quantum boards your looking at a good chunk more cash than your budget.
You could for example go with 2x kits of 260w , each covering 2x4 space and use 2x8 of your 3.5 x 8 ft space.
That would be plenty for 6 plants but would be double your budget.
Another option would be to get a couple of 4packs of the QB132 from HLG and buy separate drivers and build a frame. HLG240h-1750 should be around $60 each for each 4 pack of QB132s . The 4 packs are $109 so you would be over budget and have to do some basic wiring (poking a striped wire into a wire connector and wiring a plug) plus a few quid for the fram (aluminium L shaped )
So probably looking at $370 for that.

The HPS will cost you a lot less for start up. If you go with HID buy a Metal halide bulb for veg and HPS for flower.

Which ever way you go your going to need to be able to vent that heat out of your space.
If you cant do that then I suggest going with as little lighting as you can and been happy with using a small section of your closet..
That should be your first consideration.. Can you duct your heat out of your closet?

They are a bit excessive and would better suit 4x4 space per light minimum, may even light a 5x5 with one of those.
You can get 2x vivosun 315cmh though and light 3x7ft space. Which would be plenty for 6 plants.

Again though, can you vent the heat with a proper extractor fan and keep that closet cool?
That's rule number one on any grow! All lights create heat.. ALL LIGHTS!

CMH is a great light and good bang for your buck though.

I live in an apartment so i cannot modify any holes in the wall for venting. But i can add fans or even purchase a grow tent in the future that has a vent hole

OK. Fans that circulate air do not cool. What you need is to be able to extract the heat out of the closet. If you get a tent in the closet then you will be getting heat out of the tent and it will recirculate back from the closet into the tent and cause perpetual heating until you fry your plants.
What you can do without ripping your apartment to pieces is open the closet doors and build a sheet that fits to the open doors. Simple plasterboard will do (sheet rock I think you call it) with that you can cut a hole in it for ducting, get the heat out of that closet.
It would be worth adding a tent in there just to have a separate environment and not illuminate your entire room .
What you could do is chuck a 1m x 2m tent in there and two 315cmh. Probably a good 6" filter and Fan.

I don't want to piss on anyones bonfire but the basics of removing heat have to be considered or failure will happen.
Lots of folks come on here with the idea of an LED in a closet because they hear LEDs don't create heat, but they do like all other forms of light.

Sounds viable man!
What sort of size space is the room the closet is in?

You are going to struggle majorly to find LED's in your budget with quantum boards. I can't actually think of any. While they aren't quantum boards, Green Sunshine Co make the ES180, half decent but definitely isn't going to fill your space.

To fill a closet that size with light you're looking at most likely 2 HLG 550 V2's. The budget you have simply won't get you enough light to fill that whole closet, and if you go with cheap LED's you're going to end up wasting money and time. I have a tent similar in size and it took me just shy of $3,000 to light it with LED, that's without cooling etc.

The cheapest viable LED option I can think of is 2 ES300's daisy linked, even then these lights are $600 each.

If you were to go HID you'd save a lot more to light that area, but then you need to consider cooling a lot more since 2 HID's are going to produce a lot of heat.

Sounds like a difficult project at best, here a some things you might want to consider before diving in.

1. Others have already addressed the heat issue, do not dismiss this as it will get hot and humid in there.
2. Power, what is available in that closet? You need to consider the whole circuit and existing consumption.
3. Smell, are you in a legal area or do you need to mask it from the law or your landlord? Six blooming plants can really put out the aroma.
4. Space, that closet is basically a tunnel. How will you deal with getting back and forth to take care of your plants in such a narrow area?

I am sure there are other things like water accessibility.

This is a non-starter for a grow space. Ventilation is non-negotiable. You MUST have air exchange or you'll have an oven in there.
