I need help germinating beans

Just read the whole thread, trying to crack some seeds now.

I'm fairly patient , but I am hoping for some results in the next 24 hours.

Soaked them for 48 hours and have had them in the paper towel for about 36 hours. No signs of them cracking open yet.

Interesting read anyways......

scuff the seed "seam" with sandpaper, put in the paper towel, and if they're viable they'll sprout

I scuffed em before I soaked them.

Have followed all the instructions for sprouting older seeds. There about 5 or 6 years old.

I'm hoping they pop in the next day or so.
There in the paper towel now.

So I time will tell I guess....

Older seeds take a little bit more time since they have been dormant for longer. In any case, I think you'll be alright.

I have never really worried about cracking seeds

Just a little over the top this time as I'm conscience about the viability/quality of the seeds due to there age and storage.

Had them stored in baggies and ziplock sandwich bags in the cupboard for 5 or 6 years roughly.

I've previously just planted them and left them in the propagation station and I've only ever had one or two seeds out of about 20 or so fail on me.

These seeds are just a test run before I pop my favourites, same age and storage though.

Let's hope it all goes well.

Hey Bonza,

Since you must be a specialist with seeds, what pheno would you recommend ( Indica dominant ) for a Sea of Green Op?

I might as well order some fresh beans to have on hand........

Your opinion is appreciated.

Also, how much longer is " a litre bit longer " for the older seed stock I'm using at the moment.
In your professional opinion........

Seeds from 30 years ago, this is really interesting stuff, It is like before all cali influences, wondering if you gonna get pure Mexican sativa., best of luck mate. BTW what was the result with peat pellets ?

Never had any issues with peat pellets.

Have always cracked my beans with peat pellets and straight water in cloning box ( propagation station ) sitting on a heat mat.

Only trying water soak and tissue paper this time as the seed are older stock and want to give them the best chance of survival.
