I prefer HPS for vegging mother plants when running a SoG grow because I get the cloning capacity.
Yes and I need a lot of clones, big stretchy wide tall mothers. I tried multiple smaller mothers and I’ll rather keep my mother count lower. I’m going to try this left over 3k board and HPS and do a side by side

When I needed 200 rooted cuts every 20 days I found that 5 mothers under a 1lW HPS provided all I needed and then some. With 5 mothers I could cycle one out with a new mom and still get 200 cuttings off the other 4 while the new one developed.
I’ll need similar amounts of clones soon, my 1k ballast went up on me around a year ago so I’m stuck with a couple 600 and 400watt ballast.. I was shooting for 6 moms for each of my 2 veg areas. So 5 sounds like I was headed in the right direction. Summer time in defiantly going to have to go back to strictly led that’s why I’m going to see how much of a difference 3k vs 3500k and 4K with the boards I have now. In a couple months I’m ordering for strips for the rest of my lights so then I can decide if I’ll get some red strips or 3k boards. I have a bunch of extra 4K boards

3500k is good. If you want it to stretch just raise the fixture.
