ok so i need an anti-anxiety strain or 3...

so far jack 33 from ch9 (i believe is the breeder) sounds like exactly what i want: clear head...relaxing/calming (ie. anti-anxiety) and giggly/happy WITHOUT any racy effects. (without racy effects seems to be the hard part).

pretty much a change of pace from almost everything i smoke.

i like the clear head, relaxation/calm, giggle/happy effect you can get from a sativa but i do NOT favor ones that are racy or are very introspective...

racy and introspective for me = panic attacks

anyone know of any good strains for this problem?

im not concerned with yield, flower times, height, etc. whatever it takes to get the effects im looking for basically...im willing to do whatever i need to make it work in my grow room (dont worry its 8ft from the roof to the floor).

what do you suggest?

pretty much most heavy indicas will do. I'd avoid sativa strains or dominants because they do cause me panic attacks as well. (Am I breathing? I can't move, racing heart, etc.) I prefer mellow Indicas, however a side effect is body buzz, or couch lock. I'm currently smoking Bubblelicious from Nirvana. heavy THC, narcotic like buzz. solid, stable genetics.

Smell: Strong pungent skunky smell mixed with berry fruit, diesel exhaust and diesel fuel. This strain is a room reaker. (9/10)
Taste: Has a weird distinct taste. It tastes like the way an old crawl space smells – sweet musty taste with a hint of pine. Doesn’t taste as good as it smells. I think the taste could have been a result of too much nutrients or lack of a proper flush during the grow. (7/10)
Effects: Day time use with a thc tolerance, night time use only with a low tolerance. I see why they call it AK47 because this strain is killer! I’m a seasoned vet and this strain had me traveling the world in the clouds. Good strain for relaxing, anti-anxeity, couchlock, pain relief, and insomnia. (9/10)
Potency: Very Strong (9/10)

Taste: Fresh grapefruit berry green taste with a touch of sour on the inhale. The exhale was a little rough not as fruity as it should have been. Fruity taste is not as strong as the smell, but it definitely tastes like some chronic. (8/10)
Effects: Day time use. Ever hear of 5 hour energy? Well this is a 2 hour energy punch! Had me bouncing off the walls with new creative ideas. Pretty much getting stuff done on my to do list that has been there since 2009 ;) Even with the energy burst, I was chillaxed to the max, I could feel my eyelids dropping. Smell: When its not ground up it smells like a small mom and pops pet store, a combination of fish aquarium chemicals and wet dog. With strong hints of lemon and a very potent strong skunk smell. Has a very strong reak to it. When it’s ground up it has a strong chemically lemon smell similar to the lemon heads candy with unburnt petrolium fuel and fresh greens. Has a strong after smell of skunk. A small amount of this strain will stink up a room like lemony skunk lives there. (7/10)
Taste: I thought for sure it would taste like lemons, but surprisingly it didn’t. The best way to describe the taste would be a faint taste of lemons, mixed with clay, fresh earth, petroleum fuel and slight hint fish aquarium chemicals all overpowered by skunk. Similar to the smell. It tastes pretty damn good. (8/10)
Effects: Night time use. This strain is very potent! I’m talking melting into the couch – eyes on fire kind of potent. A tiny bud through the volcano put me on a plane that was soon to be destined to the kitchen. Excellent strain for anti-anxiety, increased appetite, pain relief, and insomnia. Strong indica effects! (9/10)
Potency: Strong (9/10)

Chocolope

Type: Hybrid – Sativa Dominant
Looks: Light green with lots of bright orange hairs. The buds are kind of airy. Has TONS of crystals that looks like snow. (8/10)
Smell: When the jar is cracked it smells similar to a piece of old school bazooka bubblegum. When its ground up it has a strong citus like smell with hints of manufactured plastic and bazooka bubble gum. (9/10)
Taste: Has a decent sweet and wet earthy taste on the inhale, similar to the smell before it’s ground up. The exhale tastes like burnt campfire leaves. The taste on the exhale is from the grow and not the strain, as I’ve had bubblegum before that tasted like bubblegum chewing gum. (6/10)
Effects: Night time use. Provided powerful medicinal effects. Worked great for pain, relaxing and anti-anxiety. I was expecting more of a sativa like effect, but it felt like it was more on the heavy indica side. I was on verge of being couched locked, but still very energetic at the same time. One bowel from the volcano was more than enough to get er’ done. (8/10)
Potency: Strong (8/10)

Smell:Interesting smell, not like cheese, but skunky
Taste: very tasty, no bad aftertaste.
Effects: Smooth smoke, hits you hard and fast. Very euphoric and uplifting, but doesn’t make your heart beat fast like some sativas do. This is a good choice for a focused and relaxing sativa.
Potency: High

Jack Herer

traits: calming, day time use, Dense Buds, energizing, frosty resin, fruity taste, Good For Anxiety, Good For Relaxing, grape cluster buds, happy, haze smell, Head Buzz, light green, lung expansion, sativa, skunk smell, skunky smell, smooth, Very Potent, visuals
Strain Name: Jack Herer
Grade: B
Type: Hybrid (Haze) – Sativa dominant

I need a strain. anti anxiety experts please chime in...

If you want advice on medicinal strains from; "experts" you should really be checking out medicinal marijuana sites, dispensaries, etc. rather than growing sites. Most members of sites like this are only looking for Mr. Toad's Wild Ride and are anything but experts on actual medicinal strains.

This site doesn't have to just be a growers site. We do have a medical forum we could promote. :)

I have had anxiety issues at times, and Ice has been a strain that I was very comfortable with. Nirvana seeds. Good smoke, hits you behind the eyes, long lasting, and seems to be a good fit for anxiety..... hope that helps....

thanks for the input guys...very helpful. normally i'd just go 2 a seedbank and search (anti-anxiety) but i've tried that and its failed me...my first attempt at anti-anxiety was big bang from ghs...it just made my anxiety worse if that helps. i found it very racy/introspective...no very clear headed at all.

I have seen it, and visited it, but very often I see someone asking for advice on medicinal strains in forums where most people who hang out there are not medicinal users and anything but experts on medicinal strains. That is why I always advise people to check out actual medicinal marijuana sites and dispensary sites. They will find better more accurate information at sites like that when it comes to strain choices. If the person later needs growing advice, then a site like this would come in handy, but going to the true pros is always a good thing to do when looking for information on what will be actual medication for someone.

where did you get lemon haze from? or mean super lemon haze? from ghs or other?

yea the big bang gave me that same type of panic attack you're talking about...

once was extreme...it made me faint/blackout once late at night...smacked my head against a door jam on my way down to the floor.

thats the only time i ever actually passed out/fainted...and it was like 15mins after my last hit. i was walking ...feeling extremely nervous/dizzy/light-headed for no apparent reason (i was home alone just chillin out...) and my mind was racing uncontrollably...then things started to go dark a bit...rather than sit to get my lightheadedness fixed i tried to continue on to my bed...then boom...hit the door jam and fell...i wasnt ever "knockedout" or "passed out" but it was still a trip. not anti-anxiety thats for sure.

Brick top is the man!! Nice post!

My only question is, wouldn't weed that makes you sleepy/couchlock have negative effects on depression not positive? For anxiety tho it's great!

I was in a dispensary the other day and read an article in The West Coast Leaf about strains that are higher in CBD. I found it online: http://www.westcoastleaf.com/?p=2473
It says "When combined with THC, CBD counters such negative psychoactive effects of cannabis as anxiety, memory loss, and inability to work or concentrate, which many users can’t tolerate." I was especially interested in this because they mention Cotton Candy as a strain that's high in CBD, and I happened to pick up a clone of that to make a mom of just a few weeks ago.

you could try Cannatonic from Resin seedbank. as they say its a CBD Queen.

Cannatonic Feminised Resin Seeds

The best of both worlds, a phenotype selected from the hybrid corss between a female MK Ultra(F1) & the all time famous G13 Haze male. Grows like an Indica, smells like a Sativa and renders you... Cannatonic! Genetics: MK-Ultra x G13 Haze Indica/Sativa: 50/50 THC: 20-25% FLOWERING: Interior 9-10 weeks / Exterior October Yield: Interior 500 gr per m2 / Exterior 250-400 gr per plant

The strain is advertised as having; "THC: 20-25%" but the test results below seem to say something different.

IF someone were to only or mainly be concerned with CBD percentages there are new strains being developed that have much higher percentages of CBD than Cannatonic.

The plant richest in CBD is a “True Blueberry/OG Kush” cross grown in the mountains south of Yreka by Wendell Lee of Full Spectrum Genetics (not to be confused with the lab in Colorado). Dried buds of TB/OGK have been sent for testing on four occasions by Harborside, the dispensary with which Lee is associated. Samples were consistently found to contain about 10% CBD (with THC levels around 6 to 7%). On the only occasion that a crop grown outdoors by Lee was tested by Steep Hill lab, it was found to contain 13.9% CBD. Two other labs have confirmed the CBD content of Lee’s TB/OGK.

Lee is now working to “stabilize the genetics” and produce TB/OGK seeds. Several plants he provided to Project CBD (a nonprofit organized by writer/activist Martin Lee to promote research) are being grown out by experienced hands. Processed medicine and clones will be available at dispensaries in the months ahead. Details will be available on ProjectCBD.com, a website that will be launched by mid-August, according to Martin Lee (no relation to Wendell)

The California strain richest in CBD proportionally, “Women’s Collective Stinky Purple,” tested at 9.7% CBD and 1.2% THC. It was brought to Harborside by Grower #1 who also grows a strain called “Cotton Candy/Diesel” that was found to contain about 6% CBD and 6% THC. Grower #1 gets her starter plants from friends in Northeastern Mendocino County. Is there something in the genome of plants that have been swapped over the years by growers in those hills that encourages expression of CBD?

Another strain containing more than 8% CBD, grown indoors in the East Bay, was brought to Harborside in late April. “Omrita Rx3” is the name the grower has given it after learning that it was of special interest to SCC doctors.

A few weeks later a strain called “Harlequin” was found to contain about 8% CBD. And soon thereafter a pound of “Jamaican Lion” tested at 8.9% CBD. Clones of these strains are being grown out and will be available through Harborside and Project CBD in the months ahead, along with the Soma A+ that was first to be identified.

Pineapple Thai (5% CBD, 2.4% THC) is being grown out by Herbal Solutions in Long Beach.
