there talking about a space heater but they can be dangerous ( fire hazard) and they put of a glow but thats whatever rite lmao and yeas it can be nite temps dropping , phosphorus deficiency, or genetics and ive always been told red stems are signs of good genetics if its true idk but i hope cus my grow now has them so.. and my temps never go below 77 and they get feed with 10-15-10 on a regular basis sooooo

oh heres some pics you can see the red stems and hmmm pretty good lookin for 26 days huh? lmao:weed:

There is a big difference between red stems and a red main stem (stalk). The red stems are pretty normal on fan leaves. The stalk in MJ plants is GENERALLY red, then green and never goes back. It stays green until the end.

Some plants genetics (VERY, VERY FEW) will cause the main stem to turn purple. MOST of the time that the main stalk turns purple it's a problem and should be addressed. And yes, dropping night time temps can cause this as well, but doesn't mean it's not a problem. It's just an indication that your night time temps are getting lower than they should.

Nice plants kho, they look great.

Question, do those long ass floro tubes put out a lot of heat? I have a lamp that can house those already so they would be perfect.

well before you run out and buy a light tell us how big you grow space is? do you have plenty of space over your plants to raise and lower a high output light? mine is in my bedroom closet its a 400w hps which puts out plenty of heat. but i also live in the south 90 deg in the summer ect. will you be living in a place where winter is cold?all this stuff facters into what kind and the wattage of the light for heat.
winter will get cold. its hot as shit here right now though. im using a closet as well. I'd much rather use two of those long ass tubes since I have a lamp that can house two of those.

any suggestions?

i used one for before i added new lights now i dont have it in there the one i had was a 4ft 2 tube one each bulb was a 40w it got hot but not really bad basically the same as one of the say 26w spiral cfl ,,, the reason i replaced it i didnt think it was enough to grow ( hardly any lumens) but the bulbs could be upgraded to t5s i think and itd work fine with supplemental side lighting.... the plants in the pic are under 292watts 18,900 lumens , 2 68w and 6 26 w bulbs

I cant give you any advice about fluoros, however i have a 400 hps which puts out a lot of heat ,perfect for my closet. my concern for you is your wintertime temps. even if you upgrade your tubes will it be enough when jack frost comes in a few months? my advice ...one 400 to 600 watt hps which will definatly heat things up so much you will have to get a fan to keep the closet cool in the summer then in the winter maby you could ditch the fan.

lol yeah a t5 wont keep temps up enough and is def not gonna help during nite temps in the winter i'm bettin youll have to invest in a small cube heater

Well I'll have to get an hps light for flowering anyway won't I? I think I read that somewhere. But damn, I'll have to figure something out. Maybe a heat lamp or something.

I have like 8 cfl's in me setup right now. but I feel like I need the room the be hotter.

is there a bulb, a strong one, that will provide a different spectrum for me and put out some heat to increase the temp of my room?

preferably one that I can just go grab from home depot or lowes or some shit like that.

menards or something will have them bro go check em out

Just get a small portable air conditioner - you get hot, cold, and some humidity control all in one device and most work friendly with timers. They aren't very expensive either.

just get 8 giant cf's. get the ones that are equal to like 160 watts. i actually found sme on ebay. one is equivilant to 500watts and it's only 80 watts. I had two of those for clones. they were a bright white light too. perfect for clones and vegging.

or i youre looking to save electricity and create heat, just get a 150 watt MH for vegging and a 200 watt hps for vegging. if you run 8 60/160 watt bulbs thats 480 watts. if you get a 150 watt MH and a 200 watt for vegging, that would only be 350watts. it'll save you and put out more.

Treemann,

I used 6 4ft t-8 shoplite floros in a 2x4 closet with 6500k daylite and plant and aquareim for vegging. The closet was warm yet I was able to close the door without any harm, (be sure to have a fan in there). all my plants grew great in there. I use a 1000wt hps for flowering, but if you swap out the 6500k for some 2700k when you flower, you should be fine....I wouldn't buy a 1000wt light for heat, you'll get more than you asked for, if needed buy a 150 hps to supplament the floros...
if your room is running cool now, what will you do when it gets cold??

I was joking about going out and getting a 1000w light to generate heat (Although it definitely will).

You can just acquire an HPS now and it will work in veg and flower. I have on many occasions just used HPS for the entire grow.

A regular incandescent bulb produces plenty of heat :fire:

seasmoke by then I think I'll have a more permanent and established setup with some more experience under my belt due to the things I'm learning from you guys and stuff. But I think I'm gonna go with the hps for now since it can be used for vegging and flowering. Then I may add some floro's since I have a lamp for them already and then add a smaller fan since I'm pretty sure my plants leaves droop sometims because of wind burn. My fan is too strong.

Green Cross, I'll throw a regular incandescent bulb in there for now then until I can get my hands on a hps. Thanks man

Should that take care of everything for vegging and through flowering for the most part?
