I love concentrates!!!

As much as I have been in love with concentrates I have always being ignorant about the production of these things.
Once I have grown my crop as I am not one to put anything to waste I was planning on making various grades of hash. Am I correct in thinking that I can do all of these things If I hang my plant whole

~I would hand the whole plant to dry, above a container to catch an crystals that may fall, when dry would gently toss on a screen
Grade 1
~ I would then cut all bud, and gently toss this on the screen.
Grade 2
~ I would then wipe the remaining stalks / leaves with my hand and make "finger hash"
Grade 3
~ I would then chop up all the remaining plant matter, and anything extra from my grow (male plants / lost leaves etc). I would then toss this over a VERY FINE screen
Grade 4
~ with all this left over plant matter I can either use it to make more hash (ice water / bubble / solvent), Oil, Green dragon (which I know as Vodka with green left to sit in for at least 6months) or butter/milk for cooking.
I am assuming it is pointless screening the left over matter properly and it is just best to use the option above?

Two points that people may bring up. This question doesnt mean "what do I need to make hash" as if i decide to make more hash I will use bud and screen the traditional way :) I also realize that for all of these steps the yeilds will be TINY or i will need loads of intial start product - but that has no basis on that question I just want to know if this would get nearly everything the plants had to offer out of them?

Or should I just screen all the matter in the first four step into one box then use the excess plant matrial as described in the last step?

LOL this may sound extreme but If i am growing a labour of love, I want all I can from my plants :)

As always thanks for the replies :)

So I'm basically the same way...meaning I grow a awesome plant that I have respect for and would also love to get everything I can out of it. I usually keep some of the biggest buds nice and trimmed for smoke then I basically take the rest of the plant (minus stalks and anything without trichomes on it) and make it into winterized BHO...then I do a second wash of the plant material with QWIso method to rinse the rest off but keep in mind this second wash is much more sedative. I also rinse my pyrex, jars, and screens used in the BHO process with Iso to have as little waist as possible.
Alternatively you could do a combination of solvent and non solvent techniques to maximize your over all concentrate yield off an entire plant...that is if I understand you only want concentrates.
I would then choose dry ice hash for basically any of the plant with trichomes on it. Then save the used material for QWEt, QWIso, BHO; keeping in mind that the beaten up material will more easily have chlorophyll leached out from alcohols. Butane doesn't pull chlorophyll as bad but thats where I leave the decision up to you my kind sir :)
Much of my confidence in making concentrates came from Skunk Pharm Research LLC. There is a ton of info out there (right and wrong...and some only maybe a little bit wrong)...and I just felt they were the most legit. Check them out and hope I helped!!

ah cool thanks for thr reply - I would save most of the bud - I just want to trichomes of the rest of the plant. From what you say I guess there is no point in collecting the different grades I first mentioned. As I said in my OP I realize these yeild of the trichomes will be TINY but I dont mind how long it takes :).
So after I have trimmed of the buds of my dried plants (collecting any falling trichomes when they are hanged)
After this I will give all the plants (minus the bud) a little toss on a screen to remove the very fine matter, any remaining trichomes.

With the remaining matter I am assuming that I can either use solvent / screening&filtration techniques to removed

What ever plant matter I have after I was planning on just chucking in with the last step, as it may as well be processed
( I need to look in to what is in and can be extracted from leaves, stalks and excess plant matter :) )

I applaud your enthusiasim! A few points.....

We pull our fan leaves before hanging the whole plant to dry, so as to increase ventilation and speed drying. We dry the fan leaves separately on screens for later extraction with the stems, to use in topicals.

Dried material doesn't typically make finger hash. That is done with fresh green material.

Solvent extraction after kifing is agood idea.

Soaking your Green Dragon six months will produce an intensely greeeeeeeeeeeen tasting extraction that some folks find objectionable. Consider making brown dragon instead, using QWET techniques.

Hey Fadedawg, you sound like you know your stuff.
From your reply and a bit of a think I obviusoly missed some key stuff :)

I am assuming now that once the stalks with buds are hanged and dried with the leaves dried seperatly, I can just jiggle everything on the screen to collect anything that falls from the plant.
After this I can chop all the dried matter for solvent extraction or butter / milk making??

Oh as I am new to growing etc . . I am assuming that "sweet leaf" (from what I watched people seemed to trim this from the buds after drying) from the bud is just treated the same as the other dried matter and just chucked in with it?

I made some Qwet from dry ice hash and its looking real real dark like almost black. does anyone know why?
