I know it's overkill, but will it work?

Hi all! I'm trying to buy smart so I can easily upgrade parts later when I get more room.

I'm starting out in a over sized spacebucket using 32 gallon trash cans. I want to run Bridgelux Vero 29's and be able to just add more cobs/drivers when I upgrade my space. So right now I only need to light a 32g spacebucket. I originally wanted to buy one cob now with a driver that could support 2 cobs later. But I can't seem to line up any drivers to fit my needs.

So now I'm thinking I'll buy 2 cobs now and 1 dimable driver and run 2 cobs dimmed way down. I have never used cobs before so I don't know if running the cobs dimmed way down would work. I really wanted BXRC-35E10K0-C-7X cobs but I can't find the gen7 C's in 3500k. I can find them in 3000k so I think I'll go with 2 of those(unless it would be better to get one 3000k and one 4000k?). I believe that the Meanwell HLG-240H-C1750 driver will work with these 2 cobs. Those cobs use 69.4V, 118.7W @ 1710mah according to their datasheet .That driver @ 1750mah can handle 250W and 71-143V,

Can I run those 2x BXRC-35E10K0-C-7X cobs on a HLG-240H-C1750 dimiable driver, dimmed way down in my 32gallon spacebucket grow?

Thanks for the reply! It will be a close one... but. I'm trying to "future" proof my build a little. Eventually I'd like to move to a 2x4 tent and I would be able to just buy another driver and more cobs.

I'm getting ready to purchase the cobs/driver/parts and I have a question or two. The first being from the list of stuff have I overlooked anything critical/useful?

The second question being I can't figure out what kind or where to buy a dimmer for the HLG240H-C1750B. I know the driver only comes with the wires for everything and does not include an outlet plug or anything else. Googling around has me lost as a lot of the results are very technical diagrams that I don't understand. I also read that the new HLG's have the dimmer built in? I don't see any dials on any of the pictures of the driver. This is where I plan to buy from http://www.mouser.com/Search/ProductDetail.aspx?R=HLG-240H-C1750Bvirtualkey63430000virtualkey709-HLG240H-C1750B

HLG-240h-C1750A is the one with a built in dimmer. For the B version you would add a 100K pot. Ebay , digikey, mouser and many other places sell them. You cant beat Ebay for precision pots though 2 bucks shipped from china if you can wait on the slow boat http://www.ebay.com/itm/3590S-2-104L-100K-Ohm-Precision-Multiturn-Potentiometer-Resistor-Adjustable-New-/282282447655?hash=item41b9585327:g:hTcAAOSwo4pYR3kp

Sweet man, thanks for the reply. For some reason I thought the A's could not be dimmed while the B's could. I did not realize the A's have them built in.

I've always seen people say make sure to buy the B of you want to dim. Are the built in ones any good? If using a 3rd party dimer gives more control I'd definitely go with that one.

Crap, I forgot to ask if you had used that eBay seller before. It says estimated ship times I would get it late Jan early Feb.

The As dim to 50% you can take B's lower then that, to zero if you wanted but I dont dim below 25% thats when efficiency goes hell.

I dont know about that seller i bought some off there though. Yeah it takes awhile to get but that same pot here in the states will cost you at least 20 bucks when you add in shipping.

Yea, holy crap. When I saw the one you posted was like $2 I figured I would find them for like 5 and getting screwed! 2 bucks vs 18 + shipping.

you can run the driver without dimming till the pot gets here, Or go with a reg not precision pot. Radio shack hassome 20% tolerance might need to add a 20k resistor to get full power because the pot could be 80K instead of a 100k and still be within the 20% tolerance advertised. They are one turn pots also instead of ten . So those will work but precisions are much nicer https://www.radioshack.com/products/radioshack-100k-ohm-linear-taper-potentiometer

Cool man. I'm looking around and gonna try to see if I can find any ones on eBay that are cheap but won't take a month or two to get here! Thanks for all the info, much appreciated!

They have some SE's in stock today, must have just got the shipment in.

EDIT:
Since they have built in push in wire connectors they are twice as thick as reg gen 7. So if you plan on using reflectors you might have to wait till they make a reflector connector compatible for the new SE version. LEDiL is only showing a few lenses will work with the SE's

It seems the SE's are just gen 7's with a different case that has push in connections(like you said). Other then that I think they are the exact same.

Yeah they are gen 7' s with a different case. They are .075" thicker or just a few hairs over a 1/16 of a inch thicker. Pretty sure Ledil will have something out soon as far as reflectors go, but you might want to send them a email asking if they have something in the works for them.

I went ahead and ordered the SE's last night! I've been wanting to start my first grow since Dec 15th(where I live went legal) and I just did not have the patience to wait another month. Now I have to order the driver and all the miscellanious things needed to hook them up(wire, electrical type, twist caps, etc etc)

So I have my cobs and I'm waiting for my driver to get here. In the mean time I have to mount the cobs to the arctic cooler heatsinks I got. I have a 12V 1000mA power cord from an old router and each of the heatsink fans is 12V/0.16A. Do I have the wiring right from this diagram?
Basically I wire each fans positive together then wire the outlet's positive to the twisted fans's positive? And do the same for the ground? I'm confident in my handy work...I just have 0 experience with electricity.
