I just found 4 oz's of bud that's been curing over 2 years!

So I decided to clean out a closet and found a box containing 4 mason jars with approx. an ounce each of OG Kush,Bubba Kush,Purple Kush, and Jack H. I completely forgot about this stash;not shocking as it was pretty decent but not great outdoor grown meds,my first try. Usually prefer medicating with primo dispensary flowers.

I remember smoking these strains when they were first cured for a month up until about a year later. Gave quite a bit of it away to friends. It was decent but not like well grown indoor meds. Still, I was happy with my first effort and so were my friends and then I forgot about the last four jars for 14 more months. And I got an urge to clean and there it was.

At first I was not sure if it was safe to smoke or not. Has anyone here ever cured their flowers for 2 plus years? I mean the jars were not opened for well over a year. Is it safe ? Ok, it all smelled and looked fine. Each jar had the smell and flavor I expected but much more pronounced. The purple kush jar smelled like spicey grape heaven. The bubba was not quite bubba-ish but more generic decent floral smell. The og,an indica dominant variety had a piney lemon diesel smell. The Jack was pure lemon and stinky.

Of course I pulled out the glass bong and tried a small snap of each strain. Each strain burned to a white ash and smelled nice as it burned. It was much smoother than when previously smoked over a year ago.All of them! My eyes popped within minutes and my head was glowing and my body relaxing. It's been over an hour and I'm still pleasantly buzzed and relaxed. With enough energy to write this thread.

It would be great to hear from anyone who has let their bud cure for this long. Is it safe? Does flower break down over time. The bud was in excellent condition as it had been stored in a cool dark closet the entire time with no disturbance. It got me very medicated and was pleasant to smoke. I'm shocked,to be honest.Very happy and shocked.

thanks for listening,

Dan

Never cured that long or even herd of curing that long. I'd say as Long as there is no type of mold or anything, funk ass smell or anything like that, then it should be fine. I've seen people smoke cigarettes that were like 10 years old, not the best they say but didn't hurt them, pretty stale but don't take my word as a hell yea go and do it all to the dome, just go with your gut..... And if they rot out then make sure you post it so we can all know for future reference please

Chances are, it wasn't really curing anymore, just slowly drying. I doubt the buds held 60%~ moisture for two years.

The buds might have been a lot better 1½ years ago.

Thanks for the replies everyone. Just to clarify: we did the normal drying and curing process with a two month cure. The stuff was decent for a first time outdoor grow. Definitely grown with love.

I did nothing special to take care of this flower except keeping oz's in appropriate sized mason jars. No boveda packs, no humidity or temp measurements. Simply a cool dark closet that was never disturbed over the last 14 months. When I cracked the jars yesterday I could not open them with my fingers and I have very strong hands. It took a very small eyeglasses repair screwdriver to pop open the seal.

The buds were in excellent condition considering how long they were ignored. Not overly dry and certainly not moist. I guess my closet was just right with temp and humidity-simply a fortunate accident. True, the color had turned more dark and brownish than the original colors.Still, the buds were in decent shape. And all 4 strains smelled pungent after all this time. There was no mold,no rot, nothing adverse.Still pretty shocked by it all.

I smoked a small snap of all 4 strains yesterday afternoon and was stoned for hours. My brother came by last night and tried the og kush and the purple kush and went home with a very happy smile on his face plus an 1/8 of each strain.

The purple kush seemed to have improved with age.The Og also was surprisingly good. The bubba smelled more floral bubba than coffee bubba and was decent but not potent. More of a head high though it should have been indica dom. The Jack was lemony stinky and in great condition.Big buds that still had great bud structure. I squeeze and it made my fingers sticky. I just smoked a bowl and I need to do something active. Can't sit here anymore.lol.

Seems like a great accident to me. I had no intention of holding bud for over 2 years but it seems good to smoke, smooth, and clean.

I'll let you know how my body and lungs feel in a few more weeks.
