I have some questions

1. My grow space is around 46 cubic feet, its really small length and width but around 9 feet in height. How much cfm fan would I need? I'm thinking this 6inch 240 cfm http://www.amazon.com/VenTech-DF6-Duct-Fan-240/dp/B005KMTYFK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1426285790&sr=8-1&keywords=cfm+fan and I'm making my own carbon filter.

2. Will low humidity be bad for my plants I'm pretty sure it is kinda dry In my house. I do plan on getting a hygrometer soon.

6" is too much for that small, go with 4". And FYI, my Ventech lasted about 3 weeks. I'm sticking with tjernlund, a quality maker, but there are a couple of more popular quality makers, just skip the VenTech.

As far a air exchange goes you need to replace all the air about every 3-5 minutes. So 46/5= 9.2 cfm. Now that's a minimum and doesn't take heat into account. It sounds like your looking at no more than 2.5x2.5x9 so lighting temp probably will be your determine factor. I'd wait for someone else. My rooting area is bigger than that. Be careful making your own filter. If it allows the smell out and your not home? Even if you are how do you control it? Oder control is how many people get caught. Some corners are more important than others be carful which ones you cut.

I made my own filters, it's really quite simple, push air through a bunch of activated carbon, presto, no smell. I just used a 12"x12" furnace filter, then put 2lb of activated aquarium carbon on top and a layer of flat carbon filter on the top to keep the aquarium carbon from blowing out. Exhaust smells like nothing or carbon, depending on your nose.

I'm to worried to try it. I've got a brand new one in the box waiting. Just so when they start losing their effectiveness I can replace it ASAP. Then order a new one right after.

I have another couple of tubs of carbon and flat filters to add if smell starts making it through, my exhaust is indoors so I'm first to smell it if there is an issue anyway.

Some parts of the year it's in sometimes out for me. Depends on temps heating or a/c ect. But either way I don't want to smell it unless in standing next to it. My smoking habit is more than enough.

My whole house smells like nothing because of it, lol, nice and stinky in the grow rooms though. You can fry bacon in the kitchen and if I'm in the up wind side of the house I would never know it.

I'm not using any ducting I'm just going to set up a carbon filter at the top of my closet and I'm using the aquarium carbon too

What kind of intake will you have? If you have a passive intake, a 6" will give the space some nice fresh air intake and air exchange. Can't go wrong with a lot of air.
