I have a space that i think is big enough to grow in. It measures 19"x30"x 46"tall. I have a couple plants started from seeds and they are under 3 cfl's and one 4ft flouro. They are around 8 days old and seem to be doing pretty good. I want to put up some mylar on the walls. I am thinking about vegging these two plants for about 3 weeks and then get an HPS light for flowering. But i dont want to get a light that is going to be too big and put out too much heat. The main reason is because where the stealth room is located i really cant do too much venting. Can anyone tell me just how many plants i can grow in this size of room and how big of a HPS light to get. I was thinking about getting one of those hps security lights and convert it into a grow light. I think they have them at the local lowe's at around 150watts. Would that be enough?

I guess i will have to find the info somewhere else.
For a room that size, many people here would consider a cluster of CFLs. They are available in"day light", "warm", and "cool" varieties. I suggest you consider the GE energy miser bulbs that are warm light for budding. Available at Walmart. Two (large size) for about $17. They will put out much less heat and will help you get started on a tight budget.

That is what i was thnking. i basically just want to try and grow 2 plants in the room just to see how well they turn out. And then the next time i will get atleast a 400watt HPS for the flowering. I would like to get this first grow out of the way and then once i get comfortable with the whole process. Then move on to something like the SOG type of growing. I have another 2 areas that are the exact same size as the one i am using now. I will use one for clones, and then move them to the second room for veg, and then on to the last one for flowering. I hope to be able to keep it up and stay in the good stuff. And thank you for the info.

If you only have three rooms that same small size, then stay away from HID or MV lighting. Stick to CFLs or T5 florescent fixtures and change the bulb to different colors as needed. Much less overhead and almost the same results if you are careful.
