Depends on how you want to grow.. if you want to go with SOG you could get a whole mess of plants in a 4x8. If you want to SCROG you could probably fill the entire space with like 6 plants.. I have a plant I'm about to chop that I topped twice and did some moderate LST to and she fills up almost all of a 3x3 by herself. For a 4x8 I'd be running 1200 to 2000 watts depending on what I had available and whether heat was a concern or not. If I had the money to invest and went COB I'd probably run more than that.

If using trays, I find that the most possible is each plant using .8 ft. (9.6 Sq inches). This is with them starting as soon as you have good roots (about 10 days)

12 plants in seven gallon pots under two lights. Make sure you go by the actual watts the unit uses, not that bogus "100 watt LED performs better than 1,000 watt HID" nonsense. A 400 watt actual draw from a quality, modern LED shoul compare nicely to more traditional light options. Creep around the LED section brother. A lot of those guys know more about their lights than the weed they grow, not in a bad way. Lol. They grow incredible weed and know dank.

whatever your legal limit is, plant it. soon you'll figure out your sweet spots, work flow, storage needs, and weak lit areas, reduce plants or change up training to accommodate these needs. Only you know how you'll train, how big your ass is, your plant pots, watering techniques, equipment footprints, etc.

Not sure about led lights, always wondered why the big producers are not using cobs, but they look promising to me.

This is what the room looks like. I have 8 fem seeds . If I grew 8 plants in here, would I need to build a grow tent or leave as is and just use the whole space and of course line the walls with mylar. Measuring from the end of the cabinet to door it's 4x8.

Odor control will be your issue there. If you use the room with no tent you need to consider air flow and use a carbon filter on exit. Mine is similar. I punched a hole in the ceiling, attached a squirrel cage fan to the roof that blows into a carbon filter in the attic

grow tents make the most of your lights for sure, and rooms make the most of your plants, with options of placement and work space. Both have advantages over the other, its a personal choice. walls dont need mylar, but some plastic would be fine, to keep sprayed/splashed liquids from the wall surface. In a room I walk all the way around each plant, including the ones along a wall. I find the mylar wall plants perform no better/worse than the killz white wood plants wall on the other side of the room.

your question should be the least of your concern, though we all been there. Concentrate on room controls, quality timers, correct power draw, cooling, dehumidifying, cooling, odor control, cooling, air movement, scrubbing, exchanging, and cooling. the rest comes natural with a tray of seedlings. have fun.

My 6.5*3.2*3.2 tent has 950w from the wall includes carbon filter, air pump, dehumidifier.
Should be about 600w of led, cree cobs and 1 citi.
6 plants shallow dwc scrog.
Tents about 90% full on day 58 from rooted clones. (Week 3 flower)

I would be putting roughly 95 plants in a 4x8 space growing in a sog. 4 plants per sq/ft in 6 inch pots with 7-10 days of veg time just to get well rooted into the pots. Average 20g per plant depending on what cultivar you are running.
