Bastards, Ive been finding and squishing them also. Early morning is a good time to hunt. I usually find them right on top trying to warm up.

Looks like a type of budworm, I would look for a predatory species of bug that would eat these little guys (because when there is one.....) and not resort to a pesticide. "Organic" or not I always pesticides as a last resort. Hopefully you caught them early and can nip it in the bud before it gets to crazy. I have read somewhere that lady bugs not only eat aphids but will attack many other invasive species in the absence of their main food source. So that might be a place to start.

Thanks for all the advice. I squished the sucker good. I would rather keep pesticide free. I will inspect in the Am first thing again.

Yea those bastards are no good! The eggs are little tiny orbs white in color and Also a redish color as well pop the eggs and it will help the infection down I'm fighting these fuckers too have had to chop alot down due to them.

I may have seen eggs. I smashed the worm and plucked the section off in case of eggs. Maybe it was worm shit. . shit is making me nervous when I have to be away

does anyone know where the budworms come from? What insect do they originate? Ive never had them in my garden, I'm in Colorado.

It's a moth or butterfly whatever you would call it there brown coloring I believe you can look up bud worms on google and it will show the moths.

Lol yea I jus found a humongous snail chomping away at one of my largest plants luckly I found it cuz that bastred did some damage. Track that mother F down and smash him lol I also jus killed a good 30 fucking bud worms right now too.
They're caterpillars. Any kind of caterpillar is bad bad news. Budworms usually refers to the ones that eat your buds from the inside out (not sure the exact species but it's some kind of moth). They do a lot of damage and poop everywhere, causing mold.

Bust out the bt dudes, from cabbage worms to budworms, all natural.
All moths make caterpillars from the little orange butterflies to the white cabbage moths to large butterflies. All moths. I believe the size of the moth corresponds to the size of the worm . For instance, earlier on I had a lot of white moths and the caterpillars were easy to find being about one inch and fatter, now there's a lot of little orange butterflies around and when I see the damage is the only way I can see the worm. They are really tiny.
