the first light from ameres tech came today. It's a. 100w. 40 x 5w. White and red

I'm just waiting to hear back of what I can an can't say. I'm under the impression they don't want me to show pics of the underside. This test light is not in production at all. They said they don't want to confuse people. They want me to wait til the site is up. I gather it will be up when the other lights are in stock. In a few weeks.

I was debating what to do with the Amere Tech SS100. 2 of 3 veg spaces are taken up with drying / hanging buds. So I decided to take down one IG and place the A51 and the ss 100 in the center. Then there will be the IG's on both sides and led in the middle. Once next batch comes in there

Day 21 and under ss100 day 14. Everyone cares more about how it flowers any way. It will go over the sour tsunamis cbd soon. For now...

The SS seems to cover 1 10 gal pplant pretty good. The A51 seems to handle 2 10 gal plants pretty good too. I have both led panels at 18 inches away from the canopy.

Under a51 Left : Mojos # 2 (jog) Right: 9lb (goo berry)'
Under SS100 : 9lb from seed

Taller : 9lb from seed, Shorter: L.A Con
WP_20141009_21_17_28_Pro.jpg

A51 - 155w
AT - 100w
IG - 460w

only running 715 watts in flower right now.

shitty reflection or are the reds are double emitters?

Hmm..
There are some orange 8mm ones ... Quad-die...
http://www.led1.de/shop/lng/en/prolight-power-led-orange-5-watt.html

Or Quad-die red ones ..
http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Free-Shipping-Superbright-5-Watt-Red-Power-LED-Bulbs/501954600.html
Or these ...

But those on the panel ,might be something like that :

Although, usually 8mm Dual -die leds are 3 watters and not 5 Watters ...

Just what I thought............damn.................the cree "option" better be the only option.
Let me support your thought ...
Afterall ,amongst other types of leds ,
I've a rather good experience of these 'cheap' 8 mm plastic case/lens leds ..

Of course there are 'quality ' options ,regarding this type of package ,like the ones from Seoul Semiconductors ..
But .....

Let us break down the % of the manufacturing cost of a LED device ....

led cost.JPG

http://apps1.eere.energy.gov/buildings/publications/pdfs/ssl/ssl_manuf-roadmap_sept2013.pdf

So you see ,that 60-65% of the cost of a led/COB/array is the actual package ....

Of course ceramic ( AlO-BeO-AlN ) packages ,copper slugs and silicone lenses,is the high quality and cost option ...

( Cree -Osram -Nichia and other renown brands use those high quality materials ...
Only exception is the Bridgelux Vero series ,where the case is plastic ,but the chips are on
copper 'board' .Packaged by Toshiba .

Over the course of the next year(=2014), Bridgelux will be working with Toshiba to integrate its GaN-on-silicon LEDs into its Vero chip-on-board structure, Lester said.
Check full 2013 article => http://www.greentechmedia.com/articles/read/bridgelux-bets-led-tech-future-on-toshiba
)

The other option is the cheap thermoplastic plastic case ,aluminium slugs and PMMA lenses (Plexiglass-PolyMethylMethAcrylate ),used in low quality ,cheap leds/arrays .

The latter option allows for Volume Emitters to be packaged .
Volume emitters are cheaper and of older tech ,than Thin-Film /surface emitters .
And of lower efficiency,also ...

Furthermore ,their thermal resistance is usually x10 or even x 20 greater than the
ceramic/copper packages..

Volume emitters and high thermal resistance ,is a great combo ,
to make cheap but shitty LEDS/Arrays ...

Thus ...
Yes ,If that guy behind the Amare Tech ,wants to be taken 'seriously ' ...
Better the Cree option ,to be the only option ,indeed...

Otherwise ...
Nothing different than all the rest ,of the Ali-Baba led grow lights ....:fire:
Meaning :
Same shit ,but ALWAYS different smell ( or looks) (=> aka custom case & 140 mm fan )

Cheers.
:peace:

Keep in mind this led panel is the only one of its kind. Its just a test lamp. There is none of these in production. It all depends on the results whether it stays or not. . There are other models coming soon.
cw/ww 630/660^^^ is nothing new though friend...........spectrum doesn't trump efficiency generally as we all remember with those crappy "90w" ufo's getting easily beaten by 150w hps(most inefficient hps btw:))

Hans used the best at the time(original v1 diodes; xpe/rebel), so the spec worked..............it was a great low wattage fixture, the new version is all about the osram 660nm, killing him on the price(cree xbd are average at best)

As GG and countless others have said/learned their are no mysteries anymore concerning performance....... except for alta/helio/illumi/valoya using in house/boutique chips???

use the best diodes available and forget about the fancy casings/etchings/switches/plastic secondary lenses/etc........imo

I wish them the best of luck!!!............it's brutal out there:P

I'll be watching this grow and be safe hyroot...

I'm not sure how you get can proper test results from the light while getting crossover from the A51 and indagros. This light to me looks like a step backwards from what's already available from top companies. Just another alibaba light with inferior diodes and possibly assembled in the states. Really though its a good warranty that attracts me to a51 as my commercial panel of choice, all panels no matter what they cost or what chips/drivers are inside can have problems (diodes burn out, drivers/ fans die). Recently one of my A51 panels has 1 of the white diodes burn out taking out the hole string, after some troubleshooting with Jeff he sent me a new 6 diode MCPCB (free fast shipping to Canada) and I easily installed it myself and was back in business.

I documented the repair and will be making a thread to show people incase they come across the same problem.

I'll admit though that I was put off by this light before I really heard much about it or even saw it because of the other guy on this forum that has be recommending them to people before they have been tested out. He did the same thing with the test light from BML before ultimately realizing it wasn't as good as he thought. I hope no one bought any based his recommendations.

I will be watching your grow with an unbiased eye hyroot, those bud pics you have been posting look damn tasty.

I didn't say it was innovative. I didn't mean the only of its kind in the world. I meant the only one of its kind made by them. They don't have any other panels built like this one. This is the only one they made with this design.

actually it is new. The only other light close to that is the a51 rw. Cool white and reds. No one does cool white, warm white and red. Except for Positivity. All other lights that may incorporate both also have mono blues, reds and deep reds..

you know I'm about cri. Regardless of photon count. I think the mix of cool.white , warm white and red can make a high overall cri. Inda gro and philips CMH and cree cxa 3050 3000k cobs are the only lights that can produce such a high cri.
