HYPERFANS..MAX FANS...need some advice

anyone using these with a carbon filter and how do you find them compared to traditional centri fans


there is a lot of propaganda saying why these are better but sometimes theory and real world testing are two different things...especially under load...


just wondering is anyone has gone to these types of "can fans" from the traditional centri's and if they are worth it...

I tried going into detail on a previous post about them. Pretty sure no one listened. The manufacturers post graphs of cfm per inch of mercury.

Centrifugals are better under a decent amount of static pressure.

Most manufacturers are test without pressure..so I take those numbers with a grain of salt

I asked the same as you, the responses are under the thread "venting 8k lights??"

This was enough for me, couple diff vids with same results.

yeah I like the hyper over the Can fan but my concern is when adding a carbon filter to it..

most of the videos are hydro stores advertising that fan and not hard to find a "real world" test..

My issue is how would these go compared to the tradition centrifugal fans..

I think the can/hyper fans are anew style axial if Im correct?

I believe they are axial as well. I'm going to be using the fans for venting my lights so I don't need testing under your conditions.

I won't be getting one for a while unfortunately otherwise I'd do the testing for you. Best of luck,

I posted links to specs on vortex s line and hyperfan "axial hybrid style" or whatever they call them and compared them to specs of vortex's centrifugal.

All were from their respective manufacturer. I somehow doubt hyperfans self proclaimed specs but whatever. I couldn't find Max-fan specs.

Under high pressure the axial fans fell on there face.

Under 0 pressure the axial fans generally move more quite a bit more per watt.

The vid shows the hyper fan can out perform a centrifugal when there's no pressure. Exactly what I needed to know. I'm not scrubbing any of those fans only using to cool my hoods. When I get scrubbers I'll go with a centrifugal but for now this meets my needs. Not sure how that makes me a sucker lol.

have you got a the link so I can have a read...

after doing more reading I think Im going with the centrifans...

I know a couple of guys who are using multiflows and recommend them but with so many not using htem Im skeptical of their ability over the traditional centri fans
