I was interested in using hydroton in my Hempys, right now I use perlite and it's a little messy. Having to wash 4 cubic feet of perlite before I use it then dumping it when I'am done. Hydroton would be a lot easier to use and reuse. It might be a good idea to use a small rockwool cube to start and place it in the bucket with hydroton so it can have a good solid start.

I am not familiar with HEMOY buckets. But if you are using hydroton and you are in a controled enviroment I think hand water may not be the way to go. The reason is that they will need more then what you can hand water to survive. unless you are letting the water sit in bucket then draining it off???? Why not set up a nice simple drip system where you have a small rez with a pump with feed lines going to the top of plant. You then place a drain hole in the bottom, raise you buckets so they are higher then the bottm of your rez and have a drain that brings every thing back to the rez. There is a utube at extremegrowing.com that shows this type of system, theirs is actualy pretty low cost.

the hempy buckets are a bucket with one 7/16 hole drilled at about 2-3 inches from the bottom. and then you water once a day and the space below the hole acts as a resoivor. u have to let some run off every time you water untill the root make it to the resoivor then u just sit back and let the roots drink all it wants out the resovoir then from what i hear once the roots can drink. u water every other day or so. plus i plan on doing a light foiler feed once every few days. if i could run a pump i would but i got electricty issues and i know pumps dont take much but i have to becareful (old circuits). i personly am dwc man myself i originlly planned on running 2 600hps at a time but cant with the air conditioner and im not in a position were i can run extension cords though or around my house. so i must play it safe and go basic as possible and hempy buckets are about as basic as it gets while still alowing complete control. i dont mind hand watering it gives me time with the girls. if you get a chance look more into the hempys i hear they do well ill most likley be starting a journal on this grow within the next couple weeks so if u wanna see how it goes keep an eye out, late.

i have done 2 hempy bucket grows in 75% perlite 25%vermiculite,gh floranova grow & bloom, liqiud and dry koolbloom, bud candy,1000w hps been gettin 3-5 oz on the regular.i love hempy.very easy rarely have problems and when i did the were fixed with the quickness.

i considered doing the classic perlite and vermiculite mix but when i heard you can reuse i almost shit myself lol but seriosly any way to save$ is a good thing specially since i gotta buy clones for now and 10-15 bucks a pop it gets expensive

ya i do hate buying the shit each grow but my results have been so good i hate to tamper with it.ive thought about throwing a bubble bucket or two in there too:eyesmoke:

yeah i know what ur sayin i wouldnt even be doing hempy buckets if i i didnt have to conserve energy right now i am usally all about dwc and have gotten great results veg growth is crazy with dwc it like you leave your room and come back the next day and shits exploded like 1-2 inches and bushed out like a disco dancers muff lol i have found if you put multiple plants in a plastic tub it will work but if any plant gets the edge in any way it will be a nute hog and leave the runts to fend for themselves so i plant per bucket is the way to go
