Ok so I have a 45 gal tub with 3 6" pots and a 1000 gph pump I got pointing up in the middle so it creates like a volcanoe of water n bubbles and also have air pump but needed to know a few things...
1. How often should I do a water change....and how much should I change like 50% a week i was thinking?
2. How often do I add nutrients and do I have nutes in there already when I first plant it?
3. And also I'm getting my nutes today from the local store and already asked many people what are some good ones for hydro growing but got million of confusing answers....I'm going to HTG supply so if you could name like a 2 or 3 pack ....I asked and many people said all this stuff about how there's stages which I knew for veg and bloom but now I heard theres 3 but u only need 2 idk I was thinking about just getting something like this....
http://www.htgsupply.com/Product-FoxFarm---FoxFarm-Liquid-Soil-Formula.asp

I would get one of each but I don't understand all the 10-4-6 bs can someone explain like is there an order it should be in sorry for asking stupid questions....like if I just got the FoxFARM GRoW big (for veg state)....and FF tiger bloom ( for when it switches to 12/12....
Do I comine the nutes or use them separate I heard people tell me to mix them or something ....I need help on the whole nutes topic

Or would I use a combination of grow big and big bloom while it's on 24 hour lighting ....the. When switched to 12/12 use the tiger bloom? It's cnfusing is says on the bottle grow big can be used with tiger bloom but I thought grow bigs for veg and tiger blooms for budding? Are all 3 necessary ? And explain exactly how you use them ....thanks a lot to ne1 who can help

A good rule of thumb is to add water to the reservoir daily to keep the level at the level. Once you have added top off water that = the amount of water you started with, change the solution. Another way is to add 1/3 strength nutes to your top off water and not have to change your reservoir out. When you do change it, change all the water, not 50%.

I get my plants established in Rapid Rooter trays with no nutes. Once established I drop them into my buckets and give them nutes. Some people go half strength the first week in the buckets but I go full strength.

I suggest starting with a 2 part Lucas Formula with General Hydroponics Flora Series. It's a good starting point for beginners and you only have to worry about 2 products. A lot of noob hydro guys think they have to do so many things and use so many different products that they end up doing more harm than good. I know I did.

Lucas Formula is stupid simple and a great starting point.

8ml of Micro and 16ml of Bloom per gallon of water. That's it. Give it a shot and worry more about temps, ph, oxygen and air flow. That's the real important shit.

Sorry wat u mean I didn't get it I asked an the link u showed me was like a million diff things and u were like n then u have this. And u showed me like a 5 g setup. I didn't mean to sound like I didn't want ur advice and I'm not dumb I have a 4.0 In college and Its just my first time and I want to gaurantee I get decent results. Ok so thanks the flora series is at htg supply? Could u give a link to show me what it is?.... And it's only 2 products you say?... So is it just simple like use one product while vegging and the other in budding ? I ask a lot of questions that seen stupid so sorry I just want to make sure I'm young and don't have tons of money so I want what I buy to be the right stuff Forsure ...

Hi Ken, I use an aeroponic system I made and have been getting good to great results. Bend Brewer is correct. As far as the nutes go I would follow the fox farm schedule and use no more than a third of what is suggested. I use a ppm meter to keep my nutes at a consistent level and the tank full all the time. My plants will eat 4 gallons of water every two to four days and I will change out all the water when the ppm meter starts to vary in readings going up or down. When the ppm meter stays at a locked in number, not changing everything is ok. I use a product called Blue Mountain Organics and it is easy to use...no schedule...and I only use two..Grow it green and flower power. So when i add nutes it is when i am adding water or just checking the ppm level. Hope that helps.

The one thing you have going for you is that you are using the best & cheapest grow shop for supplys, htg has been my shop for years, prices are cheapest & equipment is rock solid & backed by a 5 yr gaurentee.

First off stay away from anything advanced nutrients makes, their nutes are a total rip off,the company splits up all the basic nutes into as many seperate bottles on purpose so YOU have to spend more cash.

I allways reccomend the General Hydroponics 3 part nutrients, its the FLORA series,it consists of FLORA GRO,FLORA MICRO & FLORA BLOOM & it is all you will ever need, another reason i reccomend them is their mix charts,GH has the best mix chart ive seen as well as the most readily available at the grow shops, when you go to htg ask them for a bunch of manufacturer mix charts from general hydroponics, after looking at one you will see what i mean.

The chart gives options for advanced growers as well as a seperate chart titled KEEP IT SIMPLE which is what you want to follow,it gives you seperate mixing instructions for all the different stages of growth.

You get clone/seedling, veg stage & heavy growth veg stage, transition stage for the week inbetween veg & bud, then you get bud stage & heavy bud stage, then finaly the ripen stage, each stage has a very well thought out & highly detailed set of mixing instructions so nobody will be confused, seriously,an 8 year old colud understand & follow their charts.

I dont feed clones or seedlings until they have 3 sets of leaves, usualy about 2 weeks, then i only feed them about 300 ppm of the GH 3 part nutes for one week & so on,just follow the chart.

Fox farm nutes are not my favorite nutes either, every time ive used them i ended up with a rez that was full of scum, slime on the roots & the water smelled like swamp ass, stay away from all organic nutrients with a dwc,the airstones breed scum & alge.

In the rez you want it to be light proof, light brerds alge very fast, wrap the rez in white panda plastic with the white side facing out, this reflects light back into the plants & repels heat as well,it also keeps light out.

Rez temps are best when kept at 72 degrees or lower, any higher & plants slow growth & suffer.

Rez changes depend much on user preference, some growers change the entire rez once a week, some every 2 weeks & some only change the rez one time at the start of each new growth stage,in dwc i would reccomend starting out changing the rez every 2 weeks, then see how the roots look,if the water feels clean & isnt slimey or nasty smelling then you look at the roots, they should look white with no scum on them,if there is scum change the rez more often & gently rinse off the scum from the root mass by dipping them in & out of a bucket of ph'ed water.

You dont need a ppm meter if you use the GH nutrients & follow the chart to the letter but a ph meter is a must,ph is the single most important issue with hydroponics.

You wanted a dual purpose nutrient for soil & hydro, simply feed the soil plants the waste water from your rez when you fertilize the soil plants & your good, feed the soil plants once every 2 weeks by watering them with waste water from the rez & thats all they will ever need.

Any more questions ask,i know how hard it is to get detailed answers when your new in hydro so i try to give detailed answers, just try to limit questions to one question per post & i will get to them just be patient.

Ok it's called that they don't have it on their site how much is it does it come in a 3 pack? Just wondering and ok ya I'll try to get a chart from him....I'm going to get a ph meter and thermomteter tomorrow and my house is never above 70 and usually 67 at night so the water should be cool. I just hope it works out I'm going to buy them for sure and I'll mos def let u know if I need some help figuring it out I've just heard so much I've been reading a lot and tons of people just buy random products and use their own recipes and stuff I guess you can't go wrong really as long as u have one nute for veg and one for bloom
