Hydroponic questions

Hello all, I am new to the site and was wondering if I can pick out some information form some of your brains.

I am by no means great at this but have some basic knowledge and understanding but eager to learn more. I am a medicinal patient and would like to get the best form my 3 babies.

My basic run though.

I am using a 3x3 ebb n flow tray with 20 gal res. 1 1000w hps, air cooled. Rockwool as a medium. I use the GH 3 part flora series along with koolbloom liquid/powder, hygrozyme, root excelurator, and bud candy.

veg. (g/m/b) 15ml per/g~10ml per/g~5ml per/g~~~(bud candy)2.5ml per/g~~~(root excelurator)1ml per/g~~~(hygrozyme) 8ml per/g.

flower. (g/m/b) 2.5ml per/g~10ml per/g~15ml per/g~~~(liquid koolbloom) 1st 2 weeks @ 10ml per/g~~~(powder koolbloom 5 weeks following @ 1.25 g per/g~~~(bud candy) 7.5ml per/g~~~(hygrozyme) 8ml per/g.~~~(root excelurator)1ml per/g for 1st 2 weeks of flower then stop. Flush with clearex for 5-7 days. Stop watering for 1-2 days before cut, shut down light for 24 hours before chop.

I flush right before going into flower, and again 4 weeks in flower, and again at the end.

I have many questions, some may have been answered on another post, and I appologize if it has.

Ill start with, is this a reasonable nutrient set-up, and am I going to overboard with it? I was told by someone at a growstore that using bud candy at half strength or a little less during veg is a good thing...I was wondering if that even helps or should I stop using during veg? When transfering over to flower should I use a transition nute set-up like the bottle says or is that a waste of time? When flushing should I still use bud candy or just straight clearex? I give them 36 hours of darkness between veg/flower...does this really help boost them into flowering faster?

Again I appologize if these have already been answered. Or if I did not provide enough information.
I have many many more questions that I will ask later for this does not turn into a book.

Thanks, appreciate your time guys.

Ill start with, is this a reasonable nutrient set-up, and am I going to overboard with it? No, seems like you are hitting most of the essentials. It's a good start.

I was told by someone at a growstore that using bud candy at half strength or a little less during veg is a good thing...I was wondering if that even helps or should I stop using during veg? Seems like a waste to me, but it won't hurt anything if that is what you are asking.

When transfering over to flower should I use a transition nute set-up like the bottle says or is that a waste of time? Yes, the plants stretch the first two weeks of flower and can use that extra N.

When flushing should I still use bud candy or just straight clearex? Just clearex

I give them 36 hours of darkness between veg/flower...does this really help boost them into flowering faster? No

becareful with that rockwool.. make sure it stays out of direct light otherwise you will end up with issues (very common for new growers), also cover your ebb and flow tray so light does not hit the water, you may need to get inventive but well worth it...

best of luck

edit, when i go from veg to flower, i never do the total darkness for 24 or 36 hours... some do, i just dont find it necessary..

Thanks guys. Appreciate your input. Yeah my first time I tore off the plastic from the cubes and I got some algie growth pretty quick. But now I keep the plastic on, and I put some cube tops on them. Much cleaner.

About light not hitting the water in the tray...what is the reason for this?

Light + water = algae growth and many other issues.. whean algae starts clinging to the roots its starving the plant of oxygen and choking them out.. I used to not cover my trays and had to clean everything out top to bottom each week, once i started covering the trays i only had to clean the system out between batches..

Covering my trays was one of the best things i've done to my ebb and flows...

Best of luck
