Hydroponic Nutrients Question

I'm a newb with a basic question. When should nutrients be added in a hydroponics system? I was under the assumption that it was the same as with a soil grow. But the directions that came with my hydroponics system made it sound as if a small dose of nutrients are used in the water from the start.

That is correct, soil has some nutes from the start and water has almost none. My R/O water has none so i start with mild nutes for seeds and clones 250ppm- 350ppm. by the time they get to 4 weeks veg they are usually getting 500-700ppm.Some of my plants get as much as 1000ppm at 4 weeks if they are responding well to them.Well water can be as high as 500 ppm and can work alone in some cases.good luck

Don't use the suggestions from your hydro system maker. Each neut package has different feeding schedules and techniques. Do alot of reading and ask alot of questions before you dive into hydro.
