OK, im having a major problem. this was my baby 4 days ago, i usually change the reservoir water every 4 to 5 days, i went to check it today and i noticed some unbelievable shit. The plants completely sucked the water dry and it had to happen over night because last night i went in to check on my girls and they looked ok, its about 3 in the afternoon, i woke up at 3am and went to check out them, i noticed the light hadnt went off so i switched the timer off and they looked just fine, i go down about 10 minutes ago and they look like shit. please, please tell me they can bounce back, im about a week into flower and i was expecting at least a pound off of these 2 big beauties, the one on the right doesnt look like it suffered as bad but it did suffer. can a hydro plant bounce back from this kind of stress? im very worried about my girls. this is my first time doing hydro also.

The leaves look crispy on the picture because of the light but everything is still green, the leaves feel kind of mushy like there holding some water but not much

not much you can do other than just give them plain, pH'd water at about 5.8 and keep fingers crossed. no nutes until they really bounce back to normal. maybe some superthrive if you have some (just B vitamins).

if the roots are browning, great white would not hurt either.

hopefully they recover and don't turn hermie on you. that was a lot of stress they went thru.

Hi Walterwhite810,

They definitely dried out (otherwise they look like they were going to give you a bountiful yield :) ). I'm a little surprised they could drink the water that fast. The res didn't leak or anything right?

To diagnose why this happened, we will need info on what kind of system you are using. I'm guessing 10 gal tub and air pump (DWC)?

Regarding whether they will bounce back? I personally was a dumb ass one time after changing the res I forgot to plug in my freaking pump to the timer. My plants suffered just as yours did (about 16 hours in my case). I changed my res to a much lower ppm nute solution and they bounced back just fine. Yield did suffer slightly but not too big a loss. The other response said to just use fresh water until they bounce back but I used a low ppm nute solution (300 ppm). However, I use RO water so the other poster may use tap (which is typically in the 100 to 250 ppm range). Hope this helps!

So you dont think they'll bounce back?? but hmm.. lets see, there in 18 gallon totes both with 8 inch air disk, there both running through the same air pump. I changed the water about 4 days ago. my ppm was about 600.. they were transitioning into week 2. im using the deep water culture method. i never filled it up completely only about 6-8 gallons at a time, my temperature in my tent stays at about 78 degrees at the top and 74 at the bottom. the plants are in a 5x5 tent which they completely filled :( the tent is in a basement on a cement floor, that kept the water pretty good. other than that i cant think why theyd drink so much i put the same amount of water every week. I actually added a little more this week because i know they need more water when flowering. and no the res didnt leak, its in a tent. i dont see any water or dried water marks.

Those are done on the left. Chop it up as a lesson learned. Even if thwy did bounce back the yieldis pprobably not worth the effort.

Ones on the right can bounce back

Yeah its been a few hours and the one on the right is coming back, the one on the left hasnt even budged. hopefully it doesnt fuck with the yield to much, thats a half pound gone down the drain :( hopefully i can still get a half pound off the other one.

I actually think they can bounce back. Lack of water is one of the more correctable things. It looks brutal, but plants are a little more resilient than people think. As the other poster said, the yield will suffer. I say just give them the water and see what happens. If they bounce back than great. If not, chalk it up as a lesson learned. As the other guy said, either there was a leak (you stated there wasn't so cross if off the list) or your red is not big enough. Hope the other plant can pick up some of the slack. Losing half an lb hurts man :/ I know the feeling for sure.

well like i said it was the 4th day, it was my fault for not checking the water level, i went down the night before and they looked but but that morning they were hit. I heard that they drink a lot more in flowering but i didnt take that into consideration. they were in 18 gallon totes and i only put between 6-8 gallons in there while vegging, they could last off that for a week no problem, but i changed the water every 4 days to help reduce the build up of algae or what not. they were in the second week of flower. they must of been extremely thirsty, idk. i ended up cutting them both down today, the one of the left just brittled up on, the one on the right looked like it had some life left in it, but i guess not because i came back a few hours later and it shrivled up as well, i could tell they were in horrible shape tho because the roots were looking a bit dry and and kind off white, like a tanish color. i knew that wasnt right, im taking this as a lesson learned, its kinda scaring me from doing anymore hydro since this was my first run, i had really high hopes for my girls. i just threw in all of my big beautiful mothers to replace them so hopefully i can bounce back with those, ill have to cut a few clones to keep the strains but theyll be fine, i know my yield is going to suffer big time tho. it really hurt losing those beauties. R.I.P to my ladies (Takes hat off) i appreciate all the responses guys! Cheers

I'm late to the party. If that ever happens again you want to turn off the big lights and shut off the fans. I would be topping off my water twice a day.
