Hydro mediums, can't get to a shop. what else can I use?

it's not a crazy question, nothing wrong with looking for a cheaper/more convenient way to do something

Perlite can work as a growing medium.. it gets everywhere and is kinda hard to reuse, but its really cheap and has a neutral ph.

Around the House, and just something to tide you over till you get to the store.

Binder twine- Use it as a coco fiber substatute.
Glass Marbles - I have no idea what that might be like, but I think it would work.
Shredded Cotton Fiber Towel- Cotton Fiber, might work
cotton- like cotton balls or cottom swab just pull the cotton off the ends.
Hydro- start you seed in some sort of medium, since you can't get to the store I see cotton being your best bet for starting your seed. After about 2 weeks you should be able to remove the plant from the cotton medium, Pull all the cotton off the plant and
just use air as a medium.
