Lately i have been subsututing 50% of worm castings for aicent foest humus, it seems very rich
That's what I do when recycling mixes. Used more perlite, let it set for two months instead of one because it goes anaerobic all the time for me since using 50 percent ancient forest. So in a month I turn it, let it air out a few times the first month and set for another month. My recycled mixes are getting better each time and I think ancent fores is key.

Yes same shit. Humus is what is formed after the worms an bacteria/fungi have broke down all the "food". what is left is worm poop , worm castings , worm humus, or just very rich soil , whatever you would like to call it. it's loaded with humus either way.

what is key, is that your replacing the humus an organic matter in your dirt an reviving it to soil. I guess if you got a constant supply of AF humus then i guess you'll be fine , but i choose to get my humus from compost and worm bins. When it comes to a medium that is THAT alive then you really need to pay attention to freshness.

they only thing i dont like about the forest humus is the marketing they use to sell it. "with more than 35,000 species of bacteria and over 5,000 species of fungi, make Ancient Forest an ideal amendment" That is a sales pitch, they did not send that shit to a lab an come back with 35000 species of bacteria an 5000 species of nothin. them tests would cost thousands. they dont know how many species is in their mix just like we dont know how many is in worm castings. those tests are way too expensive. all we need to know is that it is very good soil.

Before AF, I was still fine tuning my own soil remediation process with over 9 thirty gallon cans of used and re-used soil to work with into making it trouble free again. Now I have used a little over half this mix now with zero problems and haven't bought soil in a year.

That little figure "with more than 35,000 species of bacteria and over 5,000 species of fungi, make Ancient Forest an ideal amendment" that GO is spitting out about microbial species is basic textbook fact that is found in ALL compost IF PROPERLY made is just used in their sales pitch for woo the uninformed. Compost isn't hard to make for yourself and in this case AF is convenient for apartment dwellers such as me who has only room to store and grow.
