I know humidty can be bad if its too high but what if its too low? I cant get it to go over 30. I have a indoor room with a 600W hps and i have a a cup of water in there and also a tuperware container filled with water and it really isnt helping a whole lot but if it bad to have it this low?

i would also love an anwser to that question, i'm running a 600W setup too.. my relative hum. is about 35-40% with the HID... when i was runnin the CFL setup, my hum. was about 65-70%... i've been using a humidifier and its suckin about 2x as much water as before.. prolly due to my 'exhaust' system...
anyways, i've grown in low humidity before, didnt hurt the plants.. but prolly didnt help them either... i had to watch closely to be sure that the plants werent underwatered because they need much more water when there is a low rel. humidity... otherwise they dry up- fast..
what about misting the plants? or will one drop of water blow that precious HPS bulb?

Same here, my humidity is between 23-35, I asked around alot (on 2 forums)and everyone said it would be fine. I read that when the plant is in its last stages they need low humidity to produce THC, so hopefully this will give us better highs. I live in a VERY dry climate and never see my humidity rising to the 60-70's. Anyone else know?

Good Luck!!

I got decent results using a wick system rather than just a cup of water.

I had a cup of water that I attached an upright rod and cliped a piece of fabric to this and hung it in the water. Kind of needed to test different fabrics to find what wicked the best. A torn strip of t-shirt or a (clean) sock worked pretty well. I set the whole thing so a fan would blow on it.

Definately was better than nothing.

I use a small flat tray 6x4x3 inches deep...and have it placed where one of the fans ripples the water...raised mine from 28-30% to 40-45%..tray needs filled in 2-3 days.

a cool mist humidify won't cost you too much

especially if you can find one at a thrift store! (i foudn three when i went looking)

although, i am currently growing in 25-35% R/H now, and it isn't too bad... just make sure the temps don't get up too high....
