Ok guys here is my question. I'm on my first ever grow and I just recived my first months bill since moving here and starting my grow. It says I average 57kw of elec. Per day. My bill was around 230 dollars. I'm using 14 lights total on 3 auto flowering plants. 14 lights total each being cfl that is 100 watts but put out 23 actual watts of elec each. I run all 14 of them 20hrs a day on and 4hrs off. Should my bill be so much just using cfl's?? Plus I have 3 tvs that is always on a washer and dryer used daily and dishwasher used daily water heater and water softner my whole house is elec except my heaterand stove is gas.. 57kw per day a lot???

It's not your lights, you're only pulling roughly 320w an hr. and at 20 hr thats round 6.5k a dayX 30 roughly 195k multiply by average power rate of say 10cent per kwh 20bucks roughly.

Lol man I cracked up at the end there.

We don't know what rate the electricity company charges you. Im not even sure what dollar you use.

But I'd be pointing my finger at the 3 TVs before the 300w of cfls

Your lights are not the cause trust me. Now if you had 12 600's, two portable A/C units that may have an effect.

Now that's just insane to think the cfls raised the bill like that.. I run a 600 hps+3 fans plus my T.v.s,computers,games etc and my bill at most came at 140 a month.

Anything that is running on a 220w is going to use much more energy like you washer, dryer, AC, and your furnace. Every little thing you do adds up! Lol! Now I know why my parents were always bitching at me to turn off the tv's and lights when I wasn't using them. I find myself doing the same thing now that I have my own place and have to pay my electric bill. My bill was $103 this month, and I have been running my 400w HPS 12/12 and a bunch of CFL's too. This was a bill on the lower end of the spectrum compared to what I usually have to pay though. I have had bills that were $250 when I am constantly running my AC or furnace during the hottest or coldest times of the year. I find that my electric consumption costs depends mainly on that.

Your post is making me laugh a bit as well. I think it's more than fairly obvious the variables you're complaining about were used as examples in nick88's post. I can only hope the OP understands he needs to replace these with values that fit his personal situation. Did you really say we don't even know what dollar he uses?! LOL

Funny part is, his example is spot on for me:leaf:

Perception is everything. No one 'made' you feel like an idiot, besides yourself. He wrote a joke pertaining to a mistype, something you should obviously not take personaly.

Check your bill and make sure you've still got the same supplier, the rates can vary considerably and they can be sneaky about switching on ya. You can also compare the delivery service rate for your new area, though that's less likely to have changed.
