hps vs cfl

can you tell me the ups and downs with both?

i have 2 cfl 100w bulbs that say they make 1000w of 6700k light

thinking about going hps what would be the difference how would it change things?

You can grow some nice plants under cfl. I've grown a few. But if you want the big firm buds hps is the way to go. You just have to amage the heat. Thats what's nice about cfl.Its cheap and heat isn't an issue.

can you do both?

Sure. I did a CFL grow. I recently switched over to a 400w hps on my newest grow. Lets say, after only ONE(1) day of having it on, I'll never go back to CFL.

HPS get hot. You need plenty of head room, basically.

CFL is good for, aptly named, a compact grow.

Yield is not even close to a hps. Get a light fan.
