hps question

Was wondering how many plants can go under a 400 Watt GPS and where is a cheap place to get a hps or is a mh. Better ??

I wouldnt have more than 3 or 4 under that light..IMO i think HPS is the better way to go MH is good for Veg but it runs hotter than HPS does

So figer every 100 Watts 1 plant??? And do you know were I can get a hps light for.cheap? ?

i would say if you grow vertical you can do 7 plants. some people could do more depending on their style of growing, but imo if they are doing more plants then they will be using a higher wattage. a 600 watt would be better for this set-up but a 400 will work.

1 plant kept short and bushy by lst placed in the center under the bulb
6 plants either taller or raised up around the perimeter, and rotated daily or every other day

the bulb will be lowered down in the middle.

craigslist has used lights..400 is too tiny..get a 600 hps or ebay...htg supply

average grower is probably around .5 or .6 grams per watt.. 6 - 7 ounces under a 400 watt light...better off spending an extra 50 dollars and getting a 600 watt light...more coverage and you can get an elbow per harvest...you should be able to find a 600 watt light on craigslist for 150 dollars.

Im under the impression that 600w is the most light for the buck, hps vs mh. go with hps for fuller tighter flowe, but if you want the most from your plants do a mix of hps and mh this will provide the greatest range of usable light to your plants.

according to jorge cervantes, a 600 watt bulb will illuminate a 4x4 foot area of plants at sufficient power to flower. its not the number of plants, its the area of coverage. for my 40 inch by 40 inch area i plan to flower with a 400 watt high pressure sodium. i could fit maybe 4 average sized indoor plants in there or one big ass tree. all that really matters is the light is powerful enough for growth at the canopy level.

with a 600 you could fit 16 twelve x twelve pots under it..average an ounce per pot and get an elbow every harvest.
