HPS/MH vs T5 .. For veg thru bloom

So I'm a total newb about ready to build a grow cabinet. Likely looking at something approx 2x4x4.. I've been searching but haven't yet found many definitive comparisons between HPS/MH and T5 lights. I hear the best setup is the HPS/MH and switch the bulbs for grow & bloom but I am concerned about the heat. Would I be able to get decent yields from a T5 with an appropriate selection of color bulbs? Also, I'm looking into hydro up to 4-6 plants blooming at a time if that makes a difference.

Thanks for your support.

That many plants won't fit properly in that amount of space.

You'd need 3-4 8 bulb t5 and still not have that pro sheen to your buds.... Just get hps probably 400w in that space with cool tube I was planning to put 600w in 3x5x6 closet but was worried about temps so i got tent.

think maybe 2-3 plant scrog would be best for that space. with 400w tubed.

Also to vent out door get some blackout insulated curtains and panda film the inside of them. Cut holes for ducting ;)

Check my grow journal--that's exactly what im doing. Multi-spectrum T5. Flood bed and grow tent.

Im just in my 4th week of Flowering.

Read my story on page 1 (about post #6 as to why)

I agree with outside about the number of plants, two, three max. I also agree with him on the SOG. If you consider the hight of the hydro system, you don't say what that is so can't estimate, the hanger system for the light and the space between the light and the plants your 4 feet are just about gone if you use hid. Tee, I went and read your journal, very nice initial effort my friend +rep. I also run a 50/50 mixed spectrum T5 start to finish and it should work for you. The top of my box is panda film, I have slits with velcro and the hangers are outside the box. My box is also 4 feet tall, since there is so little heat I can raise the light right up to the top. I have hempy buckets right now, about 1 foot add another 4-5 inches for the light and 2 inches between the light and the plants and you have 2 1/2 feet left over for the plants. If you go to 12/12 between 9-12 inches it works fine. No elaborate cooling system needed either. Good luck with whatever you decide upon.

I think the T5's are growing on me more and more. As for the hydro I'll be using; I have 3 aerogradens I want to re-purpose. I figure a plant or 2 in each and I can just move the bases individually as needed. Plus I can remove the lights that came with and mount them to sides of the box for supplemental light.
