HPS heat ?

I was just curious how much of a difference a 600 watt or 1000 watt hps lamp with digital ballast? I understand MH are very hot so floros would be a better bet as far as heat and energy for veg. Would a hps lamp be to much for a decent size closet? (say 6'Lx6'Wx8'H)

If ventalation were needed what are some easy ways to run 6 inch hoses without tearing up walls and not looking too suspicous. And also any filter recomendations to mask odors would be appreciated.

Thanks !

You're not fitting any lights into a space like that without ventilation, even a 150w hps or halide would bring that space to over 100 without a good exhaust and those 600's and 1000's would probably set your plants on fire after it dried them out if you didn't have a 6" exhaust with good fan.

That space is fine, the size is actually too big for any light, you could fit two 600's, but you are going to need to think like you're trying to cool an oven cause that's about what you're doing with that many watts in a small space.

As far as HPS being cooler than Metal Halide, I don't know where you got that idea but it's not true at all they are both very close and comparable. Flouro's is fine for veg though too, don't need nearly half the power one 600 has for veg.

My closet I took the standard light out of the ceiling, beat the crap out of the electrical box that was mounted there until it broke up and came out of the hole it was in, then I had a 4" existing hole in the closet that can be put right back later. It vents though there into the attic and out the roof. Turn off the power before you start that process obviously.

You will need 6" though but that's fine, make the hole bigger and when you are done with the closet you put a bigger light fixture in there to cover the bigger hole.

There is no other choice for your size grow but an activated charcoal filter, nothing else will do.
