Does anyone know how you wire this hps ballast / ignitor /socket? It is a 120v 100 watt HPS. I have a 120v heavy duty grounded power cord to use for this.

just need to know what wire goes where...

i really dont want to take my 400w hps ballast apart to figure it out because its in use right now.

a diagram or instructions would be grately appreciated.

    Q. What is the difference between a "probe start" and "pulse start" ballast?
    A. Without getting technical, a "pulse start" ballast has an ignitor which helps start the lamp, while the "probe start" does not have an ignitor. Most ballasts sold in MH fixtures here in the U.S. are "probe start" (ANSI: M57, M58 or M59).

sooooooo, could this be a "probe start" HPS or does that only apply to MH?

and would one of these "ANSI: M57, M58 or M59" be labeled on the componet?

I bought it on EB and it hasnt come in yet, but those are the pics of the actual item. so i cant check to see what is printed on it yet.

No idea. I've just wired up a make shift balast and light and I'm really not confident with the wiring. Hopefully my house wont burn down over night so I can go purchase some proper wires and connections tomorrow.

You are missing the capacitor. You will need to find out what one to use for a 100w bulb.OPH

Or maybe they just didn't take a pic of the capacitor. If it was supposed to be a complete kit then you got shorted and should get a partial refund from the seller.

And that probe start pulse start information has absolutely nothing to do with an HPS.

thanx for all the help - this must be a pulse start. it arrived with just those 3 components, the transforer and the igniter both had mini wiring diagram decals right on them. i turned it into a pretty mean little remote ballasted 100 watt hps. My current grow is in a 4x4x6 space that is packed tight with 10 plants. it has a 400 watt hps, but they are recommended for a 3x3 footprint. by adding this i am almost getting 90% coverage versus the 75% coverage i had with the 400 alone. It was so sweet when she fired up for the first time!!! here is a pic from the bottom view of the finished hood/reflector with a cool reflection of the ladies under it. ( i changed my profile pic to it)

i also did a thread with pics on how to do a DIY remote HPS from componets if you want to check it out.

    thanx again for the help

just an update... its been a week now since i put the home made hps remote ballast into 12/12 and she is working like a champ. i just built another one with my buddy. he got a similar setup off ebay. His came prewired (minus a power cord and it wasnt remote) and it only had a transformer and igniter as well, no capacitor. these "pulse start" hps light must be new or more common than people think.
