Hows this sound for my soil mix?

My plan is to mix one big bag each of FF Ocean Forest and Light Warrior with 1-2 bags of perlite, will just have to feel it out to get the right portion on that. I've heard its good to add dolomite lime, I have some in powdered form-does 2 cups sound right, I can't find much that says exactly how much to add. Should I also add bone meal? Anything else? Some pea gravel in the bottom of my 3 gallon pots to help with drainage? I already have some super thrive will it be ok to use that when I transplant them with all the nutes already in the soil?

I know not to start feeding them for at least 3 weeks or so and than start at 1/4 strength. I assume thats 3 weeks of vegging and not from sprouting? I'm using the FF trio and have a carb booster for flowering.

Sorry for all the questions but I'm off to the hydro store tomorrow so any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.bongsmilie

Oh look, glad to see they acknowledged I am able to roll a joint! I've only been doing it for 23 years, learned when I was 15 and stealing weed from my dad! LMAO! about time I started growing my own!

I use FFOF and Light Warrior as well. I only used 1 tablespoon per gallon of lime (3 gallon pots as well), but i only added it when i needed it. you can add as much as you need to get your pH where you need it to be (i'm sure i read that somewhere).

I mixed a lot of perlite into the soil.. 5 cup/gallon (~50/50). i also added a 1/2 inch or so at the bottom of the pots.

I followed this partly, maybe it'll help in other questions: http://forums.cannabisculture.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=1312360

3 weeks vegging sounds good.. 3-4 nodes is usually when they seem mature enough

and congrats on your newly acquired joint-rolling privileges!

Thanks guys, much appriciated!! I will do the perlite on the bottom instead of the pea gravel just to keep the weight down and make it easier for me to tell when they are thirsty. I think I'll pick up a plastic garbage can and mix it all up in there as I will be potting 9 plants this go around. Any excess mixed up soil should be fine stored in a garbage can, yes?

After the seeds come up through my oasys cubes, how do I tell when they are ready to transplant? My two biggest ones have been sprouted now 1.5 weeks and when I pick up the cube, there are 2-3 very long roots but really no other roots showing. I'm afriad my little green house germination kit with the dome has the light too high and they seem to be stretching already. I was thinking the earlier I get them in the pots and in the veg cabibet the more I can control the light height over them. What do you think? This is my first grow and I'm very excited to watch my plants grow! LOL!!

Do you really need to use the oasys cubes??
If you germinate in glass of water for a couple of hours(usually crack in around 8 hours for me, marijuana-seeds.nl is where i get them) then i put them in damp paper towel. Once tap roots shows can it not go right into the soil.

Meyer1980-yes, I believe your method is just fine and I've read that other people do it that way. Just be careful when putting it into the soil as the taperoot is very fragile at that point. We are also planning on starting a lot of vegetable and regular flower seeds once my pot seeds have germed, thats why we went with the cubes and little greenhouse thing with the light and heating pad. We found one on sale at the local hydro shop for under $50.

OK cool.
I currently use rockwool cubes and a hydro setup but i just went and purchased soil and equipment for a soil grow as well.
Curious so i thought i would give it a shot with Big Bud and Northern Lights.

Cheers.
