Howdy, HID user with a CFL question

Howdy all you CFL junkies!

I just had an HID system burn out on me in my veg room and my flowering room is full. While I wait a week for a new HID system, I need something to keep my plants alive!

Wondering if you NEED the compact bulb or if the fluorescent tubes will work. Got six plants vegging in a well vented closet, they're pretty bushy and about a foot tall at the moment.

Will tubes do the same lighting as the CFL? I can't see why they wouldn't but I'm curious if theres a difference in calculating lumens per sq foot. Any help is appreciated before my girls succumb to early flower or just plain death.

Help a bear out.

cfl's are compact just like they say. you can get more watts of light in a small area. The tubes will work to keep them alive for a week. the more the better. I have used tubes to keep a mom going. but use mostley cfl" now days.

Thanks stumps, 4 high output tubes should keep them vegging for a week yes? I'm probably going to recycle this light system for a cloner given cloning under the aerogarden I'm using currently isn't enough POWA! Think I need all four or should I go with two?

Roger that, I actually ended up going with a CFLs hooked into Y splitters in shop lights. All the wattage and voltage is correct, everything is hanging above the plants in Y formations, 2 1,600 lumen 6500k bulbs per plant. Jesus this setup looks different, yall CFL growers be crazy! +rep stumps, thx.

I (currently, getting much more) have 3 light fixtures non high output with 6500k @ 40watts, and they do great for me.

I have a link to my grow in my sig if you'd like to see it, check the last few pages to see them in action.

I've never used HID, and it is my first grow, but I think they work great.

I hooked Y splitters up to shop lights and mounted 1600 lumen 6500k CFLs into it, 2 per plant. should be sufficient. Thanks yall.
