How would you build audience for a site with stoner products?

So a while ago I was browsing the internet stoned and I usually visit sites with cool gadgets, and tend to go on a Amazon adventure going from product to product, often food. Then I thought to myself, why not make a site that lists all the cool stoner products I find around the web, not limiting to directly weed related products. So little gadgets for at home, graccessories but also munchiefood and the likes, even some stoner toys. I spent quite some time building the site up and coding everything. I'm posting products on the daily but I'm still struggling with reaching people and still have lots of room for improvement. I am graduated in international business & management so I have some experience in marketing, but it's a very specific product. I've spoken with people that run the biggest gadget sites but it's different since people are less likely to share products directly or indirectly related to weed on social platforms like facebook as their parents / relates / bosses / / whatever might be on there and they wouldn't want them to know about it. The traffic building up okay / soso but it could use a boost. I'm looking for some good views / ideas on how to improve audience and also the website. Hope to have a nice discussion with business minded people, as I'm really eager to develop and improve on this platform. You can check it out here: http://paperburners.com

Let me know what you think of it and what you think would be good ways to create exposure. :)
Thanks a lot!

Giveaways work! :)
Thought about that. The thing is, we don't actually sell the products, we list them. I've though about actually selling the products, but it would limit the array of products we could list, and I don't want to be limited. So I chose to just list products which I find around the web. Still gonna take a while before we have built a solid list of sources in order to offer the best products, but we're working on it.

I hate websites that show cool stuff and there is no link to buy it.

Yours is not like that so you have that going for you.

Is there any way to make money helping other people sell their stuff??

Well there is money in it but I don't want to operate like that. If we like a product we will post it up regardless of price or anything, people don't have to pay us. We make commission from sales on certain sites (Amazon / Grasscity and the likes), but it in no way determines the products that we post up. But yeah, we focus on products that you can actually buy, and not only focus on gadgets that are crap quality. We offer products that apart from looking cool also offer good quality, price or quantity. :)

Haha yeah, that's one of the best categories. Still looking for a shitload more sources for good stonerfood but it's what I missed the most in the sites I frequently visited. After all, munchiefood is one of the biggest universal stoner interests...

One of the drawbacks about simply listing off a bunch of websites, is that of shipping, and ease. I like the premise, as you have sites like everyonedoesit where they have a whole range, but don't branch out into food etc.

For me, if i get in that shopping mood because i have a bit of cash to burn, I do not like the hassle of checking out multiple times, registering to numerous sites, paying multiple postage costs, potentially sitting around for multiple deliveries. I like to just build up a shopping basket on that one site and have it all as one order and one delivery.

Would it be in any way doable to setup the site so that you actually sell all of the items, but not actually stock them. The middle man so to speak. It might mean that the buyer receivs multiple deliveries, but only have to go through one checkout process, and not jump around the internet in an attempt to make up their desired order(s).

When it comes to food, also remember that unless it is a speciality product, most of stoner food is generally spur of the moment purchases. I don't go onto amazon and think hey, i'm gonna have some bongs later in the week, i'll order in some cheetos. Most folk just think hey, i'm gonna be getting high later in the week and jut goto a supermarket and buy the things that jump out of them. And supermarkets generally stock everything you'd want to munch while blazed. I can't think of any munchie food i'd order online and have to wait for, when it could be bought alongside your groceries the same day.

Everyonedoesit is an online headshop, a label I want to avoid. Personally I like smoking my joint but I have never ever ordered anything from an online headshop or would be interested in browsing it when stoned. However, I frequently order stuff that's cool whèn I'm baked.

You make a fair point that it's ideal to have 1 shopping basket. Most of the products come from Amazon, and it's pretty convenient so that should work. I like your idea but I don't see a way to create a checkout process that automatically sends through orders for a lot of different sites. Not without a big investment at least. It is something that's always been on my mind but it's something to pay attention to if the audience grows.

You're right on the money when it comes to stoner food, but in my opinion it still works as I literally thought "I'll get high more often than just today, so the next time I'll have sweet munchiefood" back when I just browsed the internet for food. The stuff we list is different from what is in the supermarket based on quantity / price / product itself. A lot of the stuff you won't think of, but when you see it, you want it. At least that's what happened to me with the Kitkats / Mountain Dew Cheetos. The Kitkats were amazing, as well. It would take a while for it to catch on, but I think there is potential as it's something I've been looking for for a while. I think the main thing is that we will still be adjusting product choice based on what people like in the next couple of months and hopefully more people will jump in to post up products in order to offer a nice variety.

Thanks for bringing up those points though, they are certainly things I think about on the regular when I think about developments for the platform.

Thanks. Yeah, as far as mobile goes we still have some work to do. Mainly, for me the idea was that because not a lot of people actually order stuff through mobile, we would use it more as a quick way to browse some cool products. However, this is just a short term thought as the usage of mobile is going up and we want to offer full usability for mobile as well as desktop, so expect developments for the mobile version.

As far as the movie projector, I vaguely remember seeing one when browsing for products a while ago. Can't quite remember it clearly though. I'll search around and let you know if I manage to find it. :)

Thats essentially just a regular full size projectr. I think he was after a pocket size one as with the apple one (although going on amazon, it seems that that pocket projecter is a bit well, shit :D

A lot of money but something more like this i think http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/1889055.htm?CMPID=GS001&_$ja=cgid:10634269262|tsid:41408|cid:177978062|lid:65638823822|nw:g|crid:36303466502|rnd:12045536897477663402|dvc:c|adp:1o3

I think you sacrifice quality for size. If you were to get good quality on the smaller size, no one would even make a full size one... I think. Anyway thanks, that one looks much more.. fit.
I've ordered the iPhone projector, I'll let you know how it is. :)

Good stuff! I need to do some more research for gadgets, yeah. It's good that there'll always be something I haven't found yet!

Thanks! That might be an idea, yea! Haven't had too much time to add products recently with other work taking too much time, but hopefully I'll be able to free some time soon enough. :)
