everytime i search google for information regarding dwc water changing i only see people changing the reservoir so what about the 5 gallon buckets? if i have 16 buckets running to a reservoir do i empty all 16 buckets and the reservoir or just the reservoir? also should i do any water changes in veg stage and if so how many times and from what ive read its best to do a water change every 7 days in flower.

can anyone give me soe advice regarding this please.

cheers

Don't your buckets drain into your Rez? In this circumstance changing the Rez changes all the buckets.

how exactly does a routine go with 16 pots connected to a brain which is fed by a resevoir? do i drain the 16 pots/brain and resevoir or does the resevoir stay topped up because there is no plant in there just ro water and nutrients

i think i kind of just repeated my first question after reading it again lol, ok so correct me if im wrong, all the res is for is to be able to mix all nutrients and then release valve so it fills all 16 buckets at the same time, and the brain/controller is just something to monitor the water level rather then having to check each individual bucket? if thats correct then what do i do about evaperation? do i just top up with ro water or both ro and nutrients.

sorry for the noobie questions :)

Is there a constant circulation of water from your buckets back to your reservoir? If so your system should run as so; reservoir to brain/control(pump bucket), brain/control to buckets, and buckets back to reservoir. If that's the case you should just close the valve that I hope you've have installed between your reservoir and brain. Let the brain pump all the water back to your reservoir and open that release valve to your drain. Reverse the process to fill. As far as topping off goes, i would test your PPM with a test meter. What are your water temps, ph and PPM? Pics would help

I have a 55gal reservoir that drains into my brain (I call it the heart) through a simple float valve. This maintains the level in my heart and throughout my system. From the heart, my nutrients get pumped to my buckets through a submersible pump and 1/4" black "spaghetti" lines. The water then returns to the heart through a 3/4" drain line just using gravity.
