How to start from seed under lights that will be veged and flowered outdoor?

Im just wondering if anyone has experience in starting plants from seed under fluorecent lights and then planting in the ground? I am wondering if i give them 24/7 light from the start and then move them outdoor after a month or 6 weeks if this will trigger flowering or shock the plant as they have been used to constent light? I only want to get them started indoor, and then let the natural light cycle take care of business so they get 3 or 4 months of veging and get massive before flowering when the days naturally get shorter in february or so(southern hemisphere). Im starting with feminised Ice and Aurora indica from nirvana. Any knowledgable input is appreciated.

LOL, I was making this face until you said southern hemisphere. Onto your question, there is a debate over the 24/0 or 18/6; some say the 24 hours is better because it gets more energy, others say the dark period allows the roots to develop more. I honestly have no idea, but I go with 18/6 from seed to veg, and I haven't had any issues. My thought is that the plant genetically is expecting a dark period, so I keep it rather short one to maximize growth. No matter what you choose, I don't believe the 24 hours will stress your plant in any way. Good luck with the grow.

no bro 24 hours is the way to go i had my first grow this year and what i did was put it out side jouring the day adn then putting it under a little cfl light surrounded it with reflective material and bam after 4 weeks i put her out in the wild and holly shit she looks beautiful now turned into a female too so cant say it causes to much stress on the plant in vegetative stage and made it turn male all uyou need is a couple cfl lights a fan if you dont get good circulation and a good idea would be a safety blanket that is for cars its not harmful like tin foil is (ps never use tin foil its burn the shit out of your plants) but the safety blanket is a little see through so it doesnt burn the plant. anyway thats my word of wisdom and i dont suggest growing in a corn field either find a area where you will only think off out in the wilderness such as gurilla growing . but no man 24 light cycle is supreme it doesnt matter about the dark period for veging any way and where from the southern hemisphere are you at that would be sick if you were in south america or africa dope prob grows crazy there hah just scared of getting bit by a deadly snake wile go to plant my weed.. aha

Yea sweet as, im actually in New Zealand got a good place where i grew last year no snakes, lots of sun, im going to dig big holes in the ground an fill with good mix of top soil, potting soil and manure/fert ect and should grow some giants. Ill probably tie down a few as a test because last season it worked well. Weve got a good climate down here for growing, nice long hot summer, hopefully a bit more rain this year though

Nobody has made TIN foil for years - you are referring to aluminium foil. And my experience is not that at all. I have been using aluminium foil to make reflectors which I have used with tomatoes, grapes, cacti and of course MJ, for years. And NO it simply does not burn plants, I am afraid that is a total fiction. And you, weedstock, are just repeating BS that you have read.

why dont you look ahead a little bit.....what will be the schedule of light outdoors once you put them outdoors....i would try to veg your seedlings as close to that time schedule to minimize any stunning once they go outdoors....i veg my plants at 17/7 because that was the light schedule of outdoors once mine were ready to go...has never failed for me..good luck.

and yes i beleave that a dark period during your veg stage will promote better root development....gotta like that.

Sorry weedstock, you are just repeating what you have read, you have never actually USED aluminium foil or you would know I am right. I only advise on things that I have DONE - I have used aluminium foil for years as a reflector for a whole load of plants - sorry, this is just an Old Wives´Tale - crinkled up (or not) aluminium CANNOT and DOES NOT bring infrared radiation to a focus. I am sure there are other ways to create a reflecting surface, white paint is an easy and cheap one, but at a pinch aluminium foil is available anywhere, works quite well, and is dead cheap. If anyone doubts that, give it a try.

And when you grow up, weedstock, you may find that it is possible to disagree with someone without hurling puerile abuse.

buddy wtf? like stfu MYLAR & a safety blankets are sold for a dollar in a dollar store i think thats pretty cheap dont you?

and buddy i HAVE used tinfoil but then realised oh shit my plants not growing very fast took it away and got some other stuff NEVER had a problem after that im assuming it was to bright for the young plant and stunted its growth

and i know tinfoil works good if its perfectly flat but not if its all crinkled up
