How to seal the room - gaps between galvanized ducting pipes and drywall

Hi,
I have ducting in diameter of 355mm or 14 inch. I want to seal my room, so how to I close the air gaps where the ducting goes through my drywall?

I used galvanized metal sheet ducting parts to go through the drywall and then connected sonoduct hoses. Sometimes the gaps between the glavanized form parts are only smal, so I guess I just can use acrylic or silicone for that.

But some times the gaps are a bit bigger e.g. 1 inch. How do I seal that? I also have joint compund here, but I guess that is maybe to rigid and doesnt connect well to the galvanized metal sheet parts? Or should I use silicone with some filling materials extra?

Duct seal putty, it will work but you'll need a lot with one inch gaps. Roll a big snake and pack it in the gap.

Yes,I did not see your link.That will work fine as kind and I wouldn't do it any other way.you can also paint it if need be.Wear some gloves,that stuff is hard to get off skin.gl

Stuff the gaps with insulation is the easiest and least messy way to do it. If rodents can be a problem then stuff with coarse steel wool as they won't try to eat thru that.

I'd use steel wool before I'd use insulation.Insulation is nasty to cut,can get in your lungs(definitely wear a mask/respirator) can get in your eyes,it's itchy as hell, and you have to buy a big roll of it in my area.Great stuff can be used upside down,its one step.i dont see how it can be any easier.
