How to reduce airflow noise?

Hi everyone. I have a stealth grow running pc fans which are silent but with the high temps recently I have had to upgrade to a 4" inline fan. The problem I have now is the output airflow is loud the fan itself is nearly silent. Any suggestions how to reduce the output noise? The cabinet is in my bedroom and is like sleeping next to a jet.

Hey bud

Is the sound coming from the fan itself or is it the noise of the "blowing exhaust air" coming from the end of the tube?

If the answer was blowing air,
You wanna try having something silencing the blow.
I have a few suggestions for you as I had this ideal problem 2 weeks ago until I realized it was nothing compared to running an AC unit.

1. Refer to pictures below , that is a 4" inline silencer, you can get them for between 20-100$. Depending where.... idk how well they work sense I can live with sleeping next to the sound. AC Is worse.
They kinda block the end but allow air flow through so it's quieter, but when you restrict airflow, you need more power to push that air, or you could have slightly higher temps then what you look for..

2. Multiple options if possible:
Duct to your closet; Duct out your window pass it off as AC unit or something YouTube and google further for this one I can duct out my sliding glass door, my dryer, or pump into my closet, I own my place so I can do alittle damage lol. So your options are what they are.

3. Depending the size of your grow; if the inline fan is "powerful" enough where in my case it's not, maybe stuff the end blowing air out with some kind of filter that allows airflow but restricts it enough to quiet it down, basically once you plug that hole even with your hand it will quiet up, from there you get ideas, plugging that hole up; I used a blue vent filter rolled up tight enough to jam the hole but also allows small air flow, it was to much my tent was high temps

So ideally Stuff the end !!! But doing so will restrict airflow which could still give you your heat issue.
Depends what you do and what you will be able to handle

Btw if you can,"do it yourself" you could build a inline silencer, it's not to hard, could save you a few bucks

Thanks for the reply man, I have solved my problem in a fashion I got a metre length of carpet and rolled it into duct and voila it worked. Another successful baked idea. Thanks man.
