how to make femonized Seeds

what does post count mean? YOU HAVE MANY BECAUSE YOU TALK TO MUCH!! mostly crappies too, ha. haw bout grow experience, you only grow 2 times to harvest so "good going" to you too douche.
Something worth noting in this post, aside from the 'broken-english', is the excellent punctuation used. Someone with such a bad grasp of english would NOT have such a good grasp of punctuation.

Come out, come out, whoever you are.

Here’s an easy, environmentally friendly method for breeding feminized seeds.

Story by Soma

Creating feminized cannabis seeds is an art. Just like art, there are a few different methods of application. I have written about some of my different methods of making seeds in previous HIGH TIMES articles. I have used gibberellic acid, pH stress, light stress, and fertilizer stress to force my female plants to make seeds. All of these methods are harsh on the plants, and some, like the gibberellic acid, are not organic. In my search for cleaner, more earth-friendly ways of working with the cannabis plant, I have found a new way to make feminized seeds.

Feminized seeds occur as a result of stress, rather than genetics. All cannabis plants can and will make male flowers under stress. Certain strains like a higher pH, some a lower one. Some like a lot of food, some like much less. There is quite a lot of variety in marijuana genetics, and you can’t treat every plant the same way.

It takes many harvests before you really get to know a particular strain. Just like getting to know human friends, it takes time. I have grown the same strains for close to a decade, and am truly getting to know every nuance the different plants exhibit. I can recognize them from a distance. I must say that I get a lot of help from my friends, both in making seeds and in learning new and better ways of working with this sacred plant.

I named this new method "Rodelization," after a friend who helped me realize and make use of this way of creating female seeds. After growing crop after crop of the same plants in the same conditions, I noticed that if I flowered the plants 10-14 days longer than usual, they would develop male "bananas." A male banana is a very slight male flower on a female marijuana plant that is formed because of stress. Usually they do not let out any pollen early enough to make seeds, but they sometimes do. They are a built-in safety factor so that in case of severe conditions, the plant can make sure the species is furthered.

To me, a male banana is quite a beautiful thing. It has the potential of making all female seeds. Many growers out there have male-banana phobia. They see one and have heart palpitations, they want to cut down the entire crop, or at the very least take tweezers and pluck the little yellow emergency devices out. I call them "emergency devices" because they emerge at times of stress.

In the Rodelization method, the male banana is very valuable. After growing your female plants 10-14 days longer than usual, hang them up to dry, then carefully take them off the drying lines and inspect for bananas. Each and every banana should be removed, and placed in a small bag labeled very accurately. These sealed bags can be placed in the fridge for one or two months and still remain potent.

For the next phase, you need to have a separate crop that’s already 2 1/2 weeks into flowering. Take your sealed bags of pollen out of the fridge, and proceed to impregnate your new crop of females. To do this, you must first match the female plant and the pollen from the same strain in the previous crop. Shut all the fans in the growroom down. Then take a very fine paintbrush, dip it in the bag of pollen, and paint it on the female flower. Do this to each different strain you have growing together. I have done it with up to 10 different kinds in the same room with great success.

I use the lower flowers to make seeds, leaving the top colas seedless for smoking. This method takes time (two crops), but is completely organic, and lets you have great-quality smoke at the same time you make your female seeds. If you’re one of those growers who’s never grown seeds for fear of not having something good to smoke, you will love this method.

You can also use this pollen to make new female crosses by cross-pollinating. The older females with the male bananas can be brought into the room with the younger, unpollinated females after they are three weeks into flowering. Turn all of the circulation fans on high, and the little bits of pollen will proceed to make it around the room. Do this for several days. Six to seven weeks later, you will have ripe 100% feminized seeds; not nearly as many as a male plant would make, but enough to start over somewhere else with the same genetics.

As a farmer who has been forced to move his genetics far away from where they started, I know very well the value of seeds. My friend Adam from ThSeeds in Amsterdam has a motto that I love to borrow these days: Drop seeds not bombs.:peace::peace::peace::peace:

That guy cannabis_ is a member signed under a new handle. Notice how in his first post his english is terrible, yet he can't help but add correct punctuation. In the second post his english is greatly improved... written quickly, without as much thought as the first post. he forgot to 'break' his english.

A new guy signs up, posts 3 times then verbally abuses babygro. Doesn't add up. That with the messed up posts equals only one thing to me.

Wrong.

Gibberellic acid is organic and not only that most commercial versions of it are certified by OMRI, the American Organic Materials Review Institute - take a look in their product listings.

The usual definition of organic is having been sourced from cellular animal or vegetable matter. Gibberellic acid comes from a fungus mushroom - they don't get much more organic than that.

Neither do I give a fuck where this information comes from - Soma, Ed Rosenthal, Mel Frank, Jorge Cervantes - it's wrong.

And you've got the fucking cheek to accuse me of talking bullshit and cutting and pasting shit that's wrong.

Put your own fucking house in order before accusing others of doing EXACTLY WHAT YOUVE JUST FUCKING DONE.

Wanker.

jeez some one has a temper.....I guess we have different views on organic, witch is very common....many countries have different opinions about organics also, Soma is not living in America, OMRI lists things that are considered organic in the states, not the world, organics has alot of opinion in it, Soma does not think using gibberellic acid is organic that doesn't mean he is wrong it just means America has shitty standards just like with everything else, OMRI don't mean shit to Soma unless he was trying to sell a product in the states that has an organic label.OMRI is only important to people like you I guess....my standards are higher than that....just because something is sourced from a plant or animal does not make it Organic...even OMRI knows this..the processing plays a roll in it also, and the way the fungus is cultured.......it's more than just it's source....:peace::peace::blsmoke:

Soma is way anal...all I was meaning is "Organic" is an opinion not a fact, and my post was on femenized seeds, the topic of this thread, I was trying to get back on topic, post some info, but then babygro once again started ranting and name calling for some reason......can't we keep this thread on topic?

I couldn't give a shit about OMRI - I don't even live in the USA, you continue to assume wrongly.

just because something is sourced from a plant or animal does not make it Organic
Yes it does, that's the definition of organic - look it up in the dictionary.

Just because a bunch of bureaucrats get together and decide something isn't organic for ethical reasons doesn't suddenly change it from being organic to inorganic.

That's the bullshit the Soil Association in the UK pull - they've decided Peat isn't organic for ethical reasons - because it generally comes from unsustainable resources - that doesn't suddenly change it from being organic into inorganic either.

Peat is organic as it's derived from decomposed vegetation, and I couldn't give a shit what the Soil Association says about it either. Consequently, I don't give a shit about what Soma thinks is organic and inorganic - he can't change somethings definition on moral or ethical grounds.

If Soma doesn't want to use it, for whatever reason - that's up to him, but he can't claim it's not organic - because it is.

well I think raw unrefined sugar is organic it's from a plant source, but when it is bleached and refined into beautiful white sugar I just don't see it as that same organic product, although it's still came from a plant a living thing the definition of "organic", it's been raped of everything natural and organic about it, the life sucked from it.....but you could still call it organic if you wanted to though......I guess

oh well, let's talk some more about feminized seeds now, talking Organics is like talking politics, to many opinions, let's just focus on the thread topic now....:peace::peace::peace::peace::peace::mrgreen::mrgreen::mrgreen::mrgreen::mrgreen:

also I don't really think Soma ever meant that gibberelic acid isn't organic, but rather the process of producing male flowers on a female plant using gibberelic is not organic where as "Rodelization" is completely natural.

Fdd, this is the problem with Organics - everyone seems to have their own opinions on what's organic and what isn't and most of it is bullshit.

On another site I visit, people there even claim Guano isn't organic, because of the way much of it is collected and mined can be harmful to the bat colonies.

That doesn't change it from being organic to inorganic either. How can bat shit not be fucking organic ffs?

I admit this is a bit of a hobby horse of mine - I object to every man and his dog having an opinion on whats organic and what isn't - you cannot change a definition because you don't happen to like the way it's collected or that it comes from unsustainable resources.

The definition of organic does not depend on moral or ethical reasons.

Where do you want to stop? Anything air freighted or delivered on trucks isn't organic because of the carbon emissions and harm to the environment used to transport it?

Bullshit.

So you want me to repeat my opinion given earlier, but in a more palatable and pleasant way that meets with your approval?

You still don't get it do you?

The production of stabilised feminised seeds STARTS before the use of stress, Gibberelins, Rodelization or whatever - it's wholly and totally dependant on the correct selection of the female plant to stress into producing male flowers.

This is the problem with the general understanding or mis-understanding of the production of feminised seeds - it isn't the process of actual pollination - it's the selection of the host parent stock to produce them from.

Soma, from your cut and paste says this himself - it's in the selection process and the knowledge and understanding that comes from having grown out a particular strain over and over and over and over and over and over and over again to find that ONE suitable plant to start the seed production process - the actual use of whatever to produce a male flower on a female plant is just the end of the line mechanical process used to produce 'selfed' seeds.

The amount of time and research required to find that one plant makes it prohibitive for pretty much everyone without access to the resources and space to breed 1000's of plants at a time.

Anyone following the 'mechanical selfing process' will simply produce plants that all contain hermaphroditic tendencies - not 100% feminised seeds.

I said it earlier, I'll say it again, why do you think feminised seeds are so expensive compared to regular ones if the process of producing them was as simple as selfing any old female plant? It's because of the sheer amount of research and breeding that's gone into producing them and they want a return on their investment.

You and everyone else here with a couple of exceptions, seem to think any old Tom Dick or Harry can produce the same results in his front living room with a couple of plants?

I'm not sure which is worse, people here thinking they can produce 100% female seeds by spraying any old plant with Gibberellic Acid, or Videoman continuing to claim female selfed seeds can produce males.

female seeds can produce males, but not true males. they will almost always reverse before they drop pollen (male hermaphrodite) and put out as many pistils as they have balls. i've read that reversed males are good to use for fem breeding, but i'm not going to test it. i still say the same thing; fem beans are hermies, and hermies make hermies. i don't care how stable it is, i'd rather have good ol fasioned regular male/female bred beans. i get plenty of females anyway.

I never claimed anything, I showed you such facts. The point that you refuse to accept it, (as you previously put it) is just that, your problem, its narrow minded thinking like this that keeps turing people off.

You asked for proof and I supplied it.

actually I do get it,and have the whole time....I agree with you 100% I don't believe making fem seeds is an easy task, and your right it takes growing the same stain alot, same goes with normal breeding, it's no easy task anyone can breed to plants together, but it taks work and years to create a true breeding strain a great stable strain, same with making fem seeds it's a big job....i just didn't think it was nice to tell someone they are so crappy they don't have what it takes to even try so they should just give up...that's what I thought was wrong....otherwise I totally agree with you..:peace::peace::peace::peace::peace:

you could at least tell people the correct way to make fem seeds...explain the process...some people might be interested in how to do it right...

I dont view femenized seeds as more expensive at all.
Of course the choice of breeder does take part in thie decision, and DP are the master's of femenized seeds.

If a 10 pack of seeds costs me $50.00, than you go thru the time and expense of raising these babies, and throw away half of them, as they are males.....
Versus paying $100.00 for ten fermenized seeds, you save on the expense of raising them, and the time invested too. So in one point of view, they are actually less expensive in the long run. They also provide a stronger phenotype than regular seeds.

The real problem with having an attitude towards someone merely asking a simple question, and you gotta feel sorry for the newbie seeking friendly advice, is they sit at home, ready to grow, and they seek out advice on the net by doing a search, and end up here, for what, to be scolded, and called a jerk? Needless to say, the next time they want advice, it wont be from here.
Peace

I agree with this statement videoman. I did a grow of grapefruit (feminised seed), and they were fine. i got paranoid a couple of times, but I never actually got a hermie. Not sure on the stronger phenotypes as I've never done a normal seed grapefuit grow. Definitely though, from my experience feminised seed are well worth the money. The only thing i really have against them is the lack of available strains. Very limited choice in comparison to buying normal seed.

.i just didn't think it was nice to tell someone they are so crappy they don't have what it takes to even try so they should just give up...that's what I thought was wrong.
Firstly, I never used the word 'crappy' that's your own interpretation of what I said. Why don't you focus your attention on what people actually say, rathether than what YOU think they say?

I actually stated that Cali High didn't have the knowledge to produce 100% stable feminised seeds. As it stands at the moment and considering he asked the question in the first place, means he doesn't. Or are you disagreeing with that statement? Do you think Cali High does have the knowledge to produce 100% stabilised seeds?

This isn't a trick question - you've actually got a 50:50 chance of getting it right. Let's see if you can answer it correctly.

you could at least tell people the correct way to make fem seeds...explain the process...some people might be interested in how to do it right...
"The first step in producing feminised seeds is to find a 100% stable female plant that doesn't have any hermaphroditic traits, found that plant yet?"

"Ever wondered why feminised seeds are so expensive? So much breeding involved, you think you can do that with your limited knowledge?"

What do you think I'm saying here if it isn't exactly that? I've stated clearly the first step is to find a 100% stable female plant, do you think I said that for fun?

One of the biggest problems with this site and many of the people that use it, is they appear to struggle to understand basic English comprehension. That's not my problem either.

Not in my experience or opinion they're not.

I've heard and seen plenty of people have real problems with Dutch Passions feminised seeds to the point that they won't use them any more. Real masters of feminised seeds they are.

The real problem with having an attitude towards someone merely asking a simple question, and you gotta feel sorry for the newbie seeking friendly advice, is they sit at home, ready to grow, and they seek out advice on the net by doing a search, and end up here, for what, to be scolded, and called a jerk?
Would you like to point out where in this thread where anyone called a newbie a 'jerk'? If not, why are you making things up? And Cali High's a newbie? Wow I never knew that.
