How to handle people calling me for help?

HI ALL,
I'm a recent convert to the beauty and amazing properties of cannabis, and like the converted do, I've been talking to people about my experiences. My step mother has ALS and my father has chemo induced neuropathy from TWO cancers. I've been researching like a grad student to find every way I can help them, so I feel like I have info to offer, though not much experience.

Anyway, people have begun to contact me to help them, and while I am enthusiastic, I'm nervous and maybe a little worried about how to guide people, in particular, people with children who have epilepsy. I want to help, but I don't want to harm anyone.

While my family and I comprise our own little collective, I'm not sure how to proceed with strangers. This far I have only offered information about what I've learned and where I found it. I have not told anyone that I am growing a few plants.

We plan to start making oil by the Shona Banda method this week. I am optimistic, but this is all I have so far.

Since CA has such ill-defined laws, I'm nervous. I would love to start a true collective, sharing info and plants, but what is my responsibility for someone's child?

What would you do?

All I can say is be careful, and don't try to play doctor. It's not your place to recommend treatments; the most you can do is share your experiences.

As far as people's children, you absolutely have no role in saying what treatments they should or should not try. Let the doctors recommend the medicine if they see fit. If the doctor believes the medicine will be helpful he/she will recommend it. Your role as owner of a collective (should you choose to take that route) is like that of a pharmacist; supply the medicine that doctors recommend for their patients.

Long story short, the only thing you can do is share your positive experiences and recommend that they seek help and advice from a doctor.

Once they have a doctors recommendation, THEN and ONLY THEN you can discuss options for where to get medicine.

I would second that advice. However I will add... If you have no experience really making or processing medicine that this is an uphill battle for you. ESPECIALLY treating children. The idea is to use it like medicine and not get them rip roaring high. Counter-intuitive to what we generally think of as the goal. I think this is walking a thin line...

In that same breath a friend of mine had epilepsy really bad since a child. It caused him all sorts of problems and last year he killed himself... MMJ DOES help with epilepsy. It was night and day with my buddy. It is my belief the CBD is what helps.

I cant say I would go helping random people though. If someone I got to know had a kid with severe problems and they had a rec for them I would maybe consider helping them... maybe... to me this is very shaky ground legally despite my belief that canna can most likely cure a vast swath of ills the human race suffers from.

This is all good advice. I suggested getting registered as MMJ users/caregiver. Referred them to some sites and forwarded some articles, brought up the SOHUM collective, and that's about it. I was clear that I don't sell or distribute anything to anyone. I don't have anything to sell or distribute. It all just feels a little awkward and being an anxious person, I just had to ask what others thought.

thanks.

I never admit to anyone I don't know that I consume cannabis, for medicinal or recreational use. Trust no one. If a stranger asks for advice tell them to talk to a doctor about medical issues, and to google "medical marijuana".

The problem is, I really want to talk to people about it. I want to share what I've learned and I want to hear what other people have tried. Does anyone know if it's necessary to register as a collective if you just want to have get-togethers to talk about it?

Put together a quick Wordpress website and blog about what you know. Market it, and build a following of people and you have the perfect solution to your problem, with no need to worry about "meeting" undesirables. You can then expand/scale from there depending on how that goes, and how many "followers" you have, that frequent your site for your knowledge, and interact as well.

All you'd have to do is mention your site to people who call your for help. Just make sure you walk the fine line between Cannabis discussion and the perceived role of doctor/care-giver status.

Join NORML or if you dont like them then any of the other big groups and get chatty.
A collective I think can be as little as $35 but you need to PAY $800 every year for some state board of franchise tax and also a tax lawyer.
