how to grow seeds.

So I had an og kush clone and a purple kush seed. Once the purple kush seed started to grow, it turned out to be a male. I then decided that og kush and purple kush would make a good combo. I put them in the same flowering room to make seeds. Now that the seeds are growing, I want to know when exactly to harvest the seeds from the female plant. The pistols containing the seeds are cracking at this point.
HAPPY GROWING AND BLAZING!

If they are white then they are not fully developed, if the female plant was pollinated at the biggining of flowering they should be pretty well developed.

I'm a little confused are you wanting to harvest the seeds before you harvest the bud, or are you waiting for the seeds to develop before you harvest the bud?

Pistols collect pollen---your thinking of seed bract-------The seeds are ready when the bracts split and you can see the seed it will start to brown--the seeds will brown (oxidize)more once they are harvested and removed from the bracts and allowed to dry a little---

Some will pretty much fall of themselves when they are ready, find one finished seed and then the others should be about ready as well.

52mm,

I know your question. And Dr. Von' gave you a pretty solid awnser. However for future reference, Jorge Cervantes detailed in his book "Marijuana Horticulture" how to "selective breed." This allows for proper insimination of a selected section of your female plant as opposed to the entire thing.

What you do is
A) keep your male OUT of your grow room, take him out right before is pollen sacks open.
B) As they open collect the pollen in a air tight container (WEAR GLOVES, ANY OF THIS ON YOUR HAND COMING INTO CONTACT W/YOUR FEMALE WILL CAUSE POLLINATION)
C) When you are ready to pollinate your female, use a paint brush and apply the pollen to one branch (generally lower branch).

The end result is the desired cross breed seeds between your two parents, while still maintaining a seed free (due to air circulation there may be 2 or 3) cola.

Hope this was of some use. Take it easy, show us a pic of the preggo!

:peace:

PS Good Idea though! Now you have plenty of seeds and will never have to buy those expensive things.

Alrite so I should look for brownness between pistol cracks?
Sometimes that's not enough time, they turn brown as soon as they crack but the rest of the seed is green. I wait till the seed sheath itself starts turning brown. I love shelling seeds and smoking the finger "hash" as I do it .
Good luck !
