The title says it all here but here's some more info on the specifics. I have a buddy who was thrown out of his last living situation by the chick he was living with. He said the reasoning was that she is just plain nuts and flipped out on him. So I'm feeling like the guy needs a little help & I now regretfully said; "Hey man, you can stay with me for a little while until you get your own place or get out of town to couch surf".

This was 3 months ago & now this same buddy uses my place as a crash pad, walks in when he pleases, contributes $0.00 to the house, & welcomes himself to food as he pleases. He does have a steady source of small income to survive off of but that's usually gone through in the 1st 2 weeks of the month. What does he spend his income on you say? Alcohol, MJ, & eating out all of the time of course.

I don't want to lose a friend or burn a bridge here but at the same time I can't be putting up room & board for someone who isn't contributing. How do I politely declare that someone needs to peace the fuck out without severing a friendship here?

stop buying groceries or move your fridge to your bedroom. My wife and I live in a shared home and when we buy stuff(groceries) if it does not need to be kept cold right away it just goes into our room. Everything else is kept frozen so, if your friend is always on the lookout for quick snacks and stuff just keep it all hidden away. I realize you shouldn't have to but I also shouldn't have to worry about getting a ticket for drinking a beer on the beach but I do anyways.

just have a talk with him aobut the cost and how broke it keeps you.......be honest dont yell or make him feel you hate him.....if you are friends then he will understand and either offer money or move out when he realizes the burden he is putting you in ....if not then say looke man.....you gata move no hate but get out.

it wouldnt surprise me if he already knows your having a problem with it. its hard to not notice that stuff with people you live with. if it was me i would just tell him what you told us. i would hope hes not taking advantage of your generosity because people normally have good intentions and if this person seems like a person with good intentions whats wrong with telling him what you told us? not just tell them the part about contributing or leaving but tell him you cant have someone getting a free ride even if hes not intentionally doing that. life forces people to find a new way and his g/f did that and you picked up the slack. its not anyones responsibility to take care of other people and its been 3 months. not rediculously long in my opinion and finding a job these days is rediculous but he should be contributing and if you dont help him move on why would he?

Ya, fully. If he gets pissed off with you for being honest, then the only thing left to do is tell him to go away. Either that or let him walk all over you, but if thats his intension then thats a shitty bridge anyway. Even if you like the bridge, you may have to burn it down and build a new one when your buddy realizes he's being a cnt.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the sound & whole hearted advice here. The guy peaced out this morning & I haven't heard from him since. I believe he'll be couch surfing elsewhere & if he does opt to come back I'll give him the prospects of what you guys counseled me on. I appreciate the insight more than you peeps know. :D

AHAHAHA! I'll have to try that as my plan B if he doesn't take heed to my kind words 1st. Thanks for the suggestion man.

Tell him to fuck off because you can't afford it. If he can't understand that then that bridge needs to be burned!
