How to get Female's all the time???

NOTHING makes a plant turn female, It is predetermined from seed. If you plant 1000 seeds and they all are male, well its just a bad coincidence. The more seeds you plant the better the chances you will get a female.

Once again, no matter what you do to a plant you cannot change its sex.
than how do you figure for hermies????

Ok WELL I'VE DECIDED TO GO WITH THE TIPS THAT I HAVE RECEIVED AND IM GOING TO PLANT 10 SEEDS AND BEFORE DOING SO IM GOING TO PUT THEM IN A SANDWICH BAG WITH BANANA PEELS FOR A TOTAL OF TWO WEEKS AND DURING THAT TIME I WILL BE ORDERING FEM SEEDS BUT HEY IN THE NAME OF SCIENCE HUH!!!!! WELL ILL BE POSTING PICS WHEN I DO SO!

The guts at Dutch Passion did studies a few years ago. They found that you can increase the chance of getting female plants by....

Increasing the level of Nitrogen in the seed bed and lowering the level of Potassium.

Temperature - Lower soil temps increase the no. of Females. Higher temps increase Males.

Humidity - High humidity increases no. of Females. Low humidity more males.

Moisture of seedbed - More moist more Females.

Light spectrum - More blue light during seedling stage increases Females. Red light increases Males.

Photoperiod - Fewer hours of Daylight (e.g. 14 hours) increases no. of Females. Longer days (e.g. 18 hours) increases number of Males.

Weather any of this is actually increases the amount of females or not I couldn't say, I tend to do things my way and most of what is written above is how I grow anyway. I might just be lucky, but I normally get 7 ladies outta 10.

Oh and Im pretty sure you can get seed soak from somewhere, not sure where I read that and certainly not sure if its any good or not. Might be worth trying in the name of Science tho? :wink:

WTF is the banana method? Never heard of that one, sounds like BS to me, anyone that can point me to some scientific evidence that it works?

Are you referring to ethylene gas? Bananas do give off that and it does alot of things, but making plants female is not one of them.

What is actually caused by the gas may depend on the tissue affected as well as environmental conditions.   • Seedling triple response, thickening and shortening of hypocotyl with pronounced apical hook. This is thought to be a seedling's reaction to an obstacle in the soil such a stone, allowing it to push past the obstruction.
  • In pollination, when the pollen reaches the stigma, the precursor of the ethylene, ACC, is secreted to the petal, the ACC releases ethylene with ACC oxidase.
  • Stimulates leaf and flower senescence
  • Stimulates senescence of mature xylem cells in preparation for plant use
  • Inhibits shoot growth except in some habitually flooded plants like rice
  • Induces leaf abscission
  • Induces seed germination
  • Induces root hair growth – increasing the efficiency of water and mineral absorption
  • Induces the growth of adventitious roots during flooding
  • Stimulates epinasty – leaf petiole grows out, leaf hangs down and curls into itself
  • Stimulates fruit ripening
  • Induces a climacteric rise in respiration in some fruit which causes a release of additional ethylene. This can be the one bad apple in a barrel spoiling the rest phenomenon.
  • Affects neighboring individuals
  • Disease/wounding resistance
  • Inhibits stem growth outside of seedling stage
  • Stimulates stem and cell broadening and lateral branch growth also outside of seedling stage
  • Synthesis is stimulated by auxin and maybe cytokinin as well
  • Ethylene levels are decreased by light
  • The flooding of roots stimulates the production of ACC which travels through the xylem to the stem and leaves where it is converted to the gas
  • Interference with auxin transport (with high auxin concentrations)
  • Inhibits stomatal closing except in some water plants or habitually flooded ones such as some rice varieties, where the opposite occurs (conserving CO2 and O2)
  • Where ethylene induces stomatal closing, it also induces stem elongation
  • Induces flowering in pineapples"

Nothing in there about making plants female.
Thanks for killing that myth! Who keeps spreading this crap around? Don't rot peels in your pots or put seeds in a bag with them please. :peace:

You can make seeds tho, then you wont have to keep paying the slightly inflated prices for your auto flowering strain. :wink:

I planted 3 seed got all males, I dont want to get anymore male, with the seeds i have left. Does anyone have a sure fire way to get females?????
it's all about sensimilia; if you choose a strain that has been grown as a male for 4 or 5 generations chances are your going to get another male... all my bag seed were males

what do you mean???? none of the seeds were bag seeds......they were all bought from a company!!!! but we will seee
