How to dry to get the best smell?

Maybe he was looking for general suggestions. ;-)

I find leaving some of the smaller leaves on, so that as the bud dries it envelopes the bud, helps to increase smell for me once curing starts.

Do you mean leave the leaves on as your drying/hanging or leave them on when your curing them in the jars?

Dark, cool (not cold) with plenty of airflow for a slow consistent dry.
If you dry too fast it loses smell.
If you dry too slow it has a green smell to it.

Air dry it, maybe a circulating fan. It is not rocket science. Also make sure you cure it for at least two weeks. Maybe open your mason jars once a day or every other day. Using a food dehydrator leaves that grass-like taste and smell, so always air dry and cure well.

Good luck!!

So should I hang in up in my grow tent with the light off and the circulation fans and exhaust going? What are chances of mold doing this?

Curing pays a bigger role in smell/taste than drying does*!! Don't believe than take your recently dried ganja and smoke it. Taste kinda like lawn grass? Now cure that same stuff for a few weeks and tell me the difference.

*This assumes you have dried it enough.

Yes completely dark cool place about 60-70 degrees with buds hanging. With a circulation fan blowing on low setting on the floor. Don't have fan blowing on nugs. Drying should take about 5-7 days this way.

get it dry within 2 weeks, 70-75F

personally i like to trim the buds up removing most of the leaves
and leave them on the steams to dry for 10 days or so before starting the cure

I think lack of smell/hay smell after curing is usually caused by:

- Chopping too early
- Drying for too long before curing
- Buds drying too fast
- Trying to cure buds that are too wet

^ What he said...as I mentioned curing is more important than drying if you have dried them properly and completely. Hung up in a small, dark room with a circulating fan for at least 2 weeks should do the trick. You kind of have to go by feel. Do they feel real spongey? Too soon. Do they feel like a new sponge fresh out of the pack with no water? They're ready. Get a feel for them, so to speak. Trial and error will help you get tuned right in to when you have dried them. No matter what cure for at least two weeks in mason jars, open them at least every other day (some swear by every day). You pretty much can't over cure them the way you can over dry them.

Please burp your jars everyday for the first few weeks, more than once. Not every other day like suggested above.

a dark room with normal temperature and a fan on 24/7 about six days then start curing with a glass jar
open the jar 30 mins a day
15 days curing you will get nice weed
