How to catch a jar thief?

Amazing he got that many uses out of it and the responses were virtually the same.
sounds like you already know who it is...
so what's with the detective work?
what type of jar is it, like a seal shut one with a clear top or is it like a 'mayo' jar with a lid?
if it's the first all you have to do is tie 3 jingle bells to the jar - tie them tight so he can't hold them quiet as he opens them...
if there's no problem with you being seen opening the jar - then you let it ring no prob..
if you want to try and be slick/secretive about it - then it'll be way harder...
and another thing - tell your friend to stop being a pussy.
I straight up grab my shit when around people, even known people, even if I'm just stepping outside for a cigarette..... does't have the balls to grab his weed in his face and keep it on him yet thinks he has the balls to confront the thief??

So you say your buddy has known the guy for 20 years.. that implies they are close, regardless of the situation.
So logically, the thief should be confronted in a way that gives him the opportunity to fess up to what he's been doing and make it right. I mean, if the guy has been kept around for 20 years, he must be more than just a thief to your buddy.
But on the bottom line, should get a safe..

My thoughts also " friend " is just to nice for his own good.
So it's like this just confront the guy or gal and let them know it's not cool to " borrow " the weed. If the " friend" doesn't have any respect for the friendship then maybe he/she isn't a friend after all but a parasite instead.

Why is this person your friend? Through 20 years, if this person has been your friend, then they must have had your back and helped you out from time to time I'm assuming. Unless you've let this person walk all over you for 20 years..
To be real; people will puff chests and type tough and say cutthroat advice, which it's fair to feel angry about crime. But 20 years is a long time, maybe when someone is messing up in a friendship like that, it's worth an open-minded confrontation. Definitely just confront the guy and ask him for an honest explanation, then go from there. my .02 lol

My buddy is stopping by in alittle while im going to ask him why not just confront him see what he says. Not sure why he lets it keep happening because the thiefs always been a broke ass shit head shaddy guy. I do believe the thief has been doing this a very long time. He told me that he broke into his safe in the past by watching combination multiple times until memorized. Things changed after that between them for about a year but my buddy let him come around again recently and the thief struck again. Thats what prompted the conversation of how to catch him where he freaks out in panic knowing hes caught red handed.

fuck that - one of my good friends from highschool once swiped my credit card from a coffee table and bought $8 dollars worth o stuff at a store. this was after knowing the guy for 17 years.....
kicked him out of my house and have never spoken to him since. fuck that guy.....
I unfriended and blocked his entire family from my facebook too....
the world is full of wonderful people and there is no reason to surround yourself with trash....

Tbh sounds like the thief is not going to care about getting caught and he has an attitude like what is your friend going to do about it! Sounds like he is intimidating your friend ans him not being able to stand up will not stop the thief even after getting caught:. The thief might get mad you guys tried to catch him knowing you already know it’s him and try and fight you over it depending on how he is.... so instead of playing games with a thief don’t let him around any more or let him in for a beating letting him know he can’t do it any more! And the problem will stop! Sucks that your friend let’s this guy walk all over him! Or even let’s him In his life! I would take the knocking him out cold method but that’s just me!

I dont think theres any intimidation but i do think thief has a what you going to do about it attitude or thinks my buddy is to stupid to realize. I havent seen the thief but once in 3 years, i avoid shit heads like him.
