HOW the FUCK does it actually WORK?

I understand the concept of the way a hempy bucket functions, but how does it actually work? What i mean is how are the roots able to survive in stagnant water? I mean it obviously works. Ive seen plenty of awesome hempy bucket grows on here so im not questioning the validity of the technique. Just wondering why it works.

Ah I thought you were talking DWC. I think it works because there's a drain hole meaning no stagnant water.

But the drain hole only drains water when ur feeding. Water or nute solution still sits in the bottom 2 inches below the hole...Im thinkin maybe the perlite breaks up the water and allows for little pockets of air to be formed and thats where it recieves its oxygen but who knows if thats even close to accurate.

Perlite traps a lot of air so the D.O. is never that low, with only 2 inches the water is depleted before the trapped air is. All hydro, aero ~ hempy works the same, you mix your nutes and give them to the roots.

Its my understanding, seeings how you have to refill the 'rez' every 2 or 3 days, that by the time the plant is mature enough to have roots that far down, it would be feeding heavy enough to use up that solution in a couple days. I wouldnt really worry about the solution going stagnant that quickly, but if you are, just add about 2 ml of peroxide to your water. It will break down into hydrogen and oxygen, thus preventing the water from going stagnant and causing root rot.

(edit) that would be 2 ml of peroxide per gallon of nute solution.

Sounds good to me. Im really excited about tryin out hempy buckets. Ive only grown dwc in the past and im ready to drop the hoses and explore the world of passive hydroponics. I got a question for you japan. Can you clone in a hempy bucket? I just cut some clones off of my buddy goobaba's nirvana northern lights plants and put them in rockwool. So i guess what im asking is how soon can it go in to the hempy bucket? And also will the rockwool be ok in the hempy? Oh and last but not least, can i put a seed thats germed in a paper towel straight into a hempy? Thanks man i know your versed in the world of hempy and im eager to take a run at it but i dont want to compromise the health of my plants in any way so i wanna make sure i get some advice from someone who is experienced.
