How safe is neem oil?...advice pleaze....

I have a slight aphid & leafyhopper problem, they go right after the new growth & make tiny holes, white spots on the inner part of the plant,Its really minor damage so I dont want to cause more harm treating them than their causing.I sprayed my squash plants with an ortho chemical for bugs a few wks ago,and it burnt those leaves pretty bad,so i'm kinda weary bout hittin my mj w/NE-THING.But I've heard good things bout neem oil ,I know to apply it in the dark, BUT how much water should I cut it with? How often should I apply it? & How effective is it?My plants in veg,so will it burn my leaves at ALL??? THANX...

Neem oil is relatively safe for humans and plants, inhaling any oil in an aerosol mist is a bad thing no matter what oil it is. Other than that I had a strain that had a serious allergy to neem oil it nearly died from spraying neem on it, twice. But it always revovered eventually.
I have used it on all my other plants with no problem, but that one particular strain hated it.
You should spot test it on a few branches and wait two days before going ahead if you want to be extra cautious.

There is a pyrethum (chrysanthemum) spray I have been using lately called takedown
It is far more effective than neem and it's organic. I highly recommend it.

I use a neem derived fungicide/insecticide (Fungicide3) and YES it will burn the shit outta your plants IF they are still wet when placed under light. However, If you follow the directions, there are no problems. All you gotta do is spray your plants and dry them out thoroughly before you turn on the lights. It's THAT easy to not burn them under hard light.

Neem works BEST as a preventative, but will easily eliminate minor pest infestations. Apply for every three days for three applications during veg and then every ten days up to budding. I've had no burn issues, except the first time I used it and put them directly under HPS....(typical dude, didn't even bother to read the directions!)...

I mix it with ORGANOCIDE and thus far has worked against: thrips, mites, aphids, ...
Go for it.
