I saw that video too, he mentioned 3 times a day (every 8 hours) for about 30 minute. Thats just what he said though. how does that sound guys? I was setting up an Ebb and Flow system myself and was gonna do that for my setup.

I recommend that you start with soil, if this is your first grow.
The odds are against you. You'll probably fuck it up, if you go hydroponic.
Mr. Greens video show's a primitive setup for the "Experienced" grower who wants to start a hydroponic setup.
His setup is simple and doesn't cost that much to setup. That way if you don't like doing hydroponics it didn't cost you that much to get it going.
But in the end, his plants looked like shit.
Probably because he was spraying that bubbly water on them. :-|

If your adamant about going with hydro. Get yourself a few books first,
and learn what it takes to grow.

3x during the lights on is fine. tweak to your plants needs. I do 3 every 4hrs or so. My roots are in hydroton as well. I regret using this medium in my ebb and flow but its working..

Water should never come above to the stem. This will cause stem rot.

Start off with low ppm's then gradually build it up to the max. But never over 1600 unless you have a killer co2 setup.

only flood to 1/2 inch below the rockwool.
never allow your rockwool to be flooded as it saturates and will drown yer plants. if you are going to flood the rockwool cubes only flood about 1/2 and only 1 time daily

I'm using coco and hydroton. I am currently flooding 3x a day for 15 minutes while on a 12/12 light cycle . During veg phase I was feeding up to 15 minutes every 3 hours with no ill effects.

Tems,

Why do you regret using the hydroton?

Good luck with your grow.

I've been using rockwool granulates(I think, there tiny little cubes) instead of hydrotron in my ebb and flow and have had some great results.

Another cheap option if youre just going into dro is the bubbler DWC,I think green mans plants were abused ,he sprayed the bitches every time he was around em and he already had the co2 setup.I show the video to my bros who want to get started and tell em to put the bottle away til we clone!!!!

Good info guys thx a lot!! I cant wait to get started just need a few more things (which one of them happened to be the hydroton pellets) Should I go with them? Mr. Green did like that spray bottle lmao. Would "Lollipopping" (sorry for spelling ;P) my plants be good for Ebb & Flow? I started reading about that last week, also looks like a way to have more plants in my setup as well since they wouldn't get too bushy.

Tems,

Why do you regret using the hydroton?
Oh mainly b/c I love my perlite rockwool floc combo. I learned from a fellow RIUer. Basically I use in 5" square pots a layer of rockwool topped with perlite. Growth is great. Its more forgiving than straight hydroton. My plants in hydroton and rw are doing great as well. I just gotta keep the ph down and it topped off regularly. But it still works.
